sigh Damn it. After being informed my full refund was processed I checked and nothing’s there. Gave it a few days thinking it was just being slow to update and then checked their store.
Their ‘full refund’ was put on an electronic gift card at their checkout screen so I don’t actually have any of my money back I spent on this pile. Thanks Stardock, guess I get to try yet again. Anyone else have this happen and get it resolved?

Calling GalCiv2 a mediocre game is hilariously wrong.
And yeah, I enjoy seeing the improvement. TF2 would not have been as fun without the updates, for example.
Nope. Mine landed on my credit card in a timely fashion.
Master of Magic? At release? Sure, you could see the potential, but it crashed all the damn time and the AI didn’t do anything.
GalCiv2 is love it or hate it and has been since release. I was one that never really “got it,” so I’m in the same boat as you are in terms of finding it to be mostly mediocre.
And oh, Brad’s taking some shots at Qt3! Emphasis mine.

Oh dear. “Unbearable” can’t be good. Still, as ye sow, etc…
Just like I don’t sweat the lowlifes astro-turfing the Elemental book with hatefilled reviews. . . .
Very classy. Not sure how many of those 1-star reviews are filled with hate, but Brad sure is a class act.

I don’t really see where he’s taking shots at Qt3. He’s responding to the previous post which talks about the “Cult of Frogboy” fanboys and he mentions that there’s the other side of that coin.
I don’t know if I’d call Matthew Gallant a stalker, but the lengths he went to in this thread (and others) was obsessive and creepy.
Someone is still in denial, and it aint a pharaoh.

This thread makes me sad. I liked Stardock. They made games for my niche and they had a good reputation. They’ve generally been pretty open and available in their forums. Games were never abandoned. Had Elemental gone well, it would have meant another team likely working on the kind of game I would have had interest in.
It’s hard to believe this will be all the fallout that’ll come. Few teams, even tight ones, hang completely together after something like this. Stardock’s name will never carry the same connotations it once did.
What a load of complete utter BS. Congrats because this has to be one of the biggest BS statements that I have ever read regarding GalCiv2. Seriously where do people come up with BS like this?

The posts in this thread were not great, and probably reduce the chances that other developers will come here and post. But I found the posts that Matt and others made out on Amazon much sadder. It’s one thing to beat someone up on a game forum known for somewhat rough play. Taking it out to a commercial website is an altogether different level and could quite rightly be called stalking. Obviously posting your opinion of the book on Amazon is completely legitimate, but engaging in “conversations” where you dig through the wish lists of people posting positive reviews looking for embarrassing items and then post about them on Amazon is downright creepy levels of stalking.

Not sure it’s stalking any more than clicking on someone’s profile here and looking at previous posts they’ve made is stalking. All their dirty, filthy posts.

Following someone to another website and continuing to harass them is definitely stalking. Just following someone to another Qt3 thread and harassing them off-topic is frowned upon and has resulted in the ban-hammer on several occasions. Taking something from Qt3 and following them to Amazon and continuing to harass them there is downright creepy.

Misguided passion can be very creepy!
ydejin: don’t open any letters you receive in the next few days, alright? I think I’ve made a huge mistake.
Having a different opinion of a game from you isn’t “BS”. It’s something called “personal preference”.
The more you know!
Reminds me of the worst/funniest billboard sign I’ve ever seen:
“Our land. Our cows. Our passion.”
(featuring a picture of dairy farmers and … a cow)
Almost makes me bust a gut thinking about it. Some marketing guy out there is still getting drinks on the house for pulling one over on the Dairy Max people (I had to look the company up after seeing it).
