Digging into the back catalogue there.
So Elemental can be used as a realistic simulator of royalty around the globe… You really sound like someone from the British royal family there ;)
That was genuinely funny :)
Wasn’t sure where to post this, so adding to this thread.
Congratulations to Mr. Paxton.
Stardock Taps Fall from Heaven Creator to Lead Game Development Efforts
- Derek “Kael” Paxton joins Stardock -
PLYMOUTH, MICHIGAN – October 12, 2010 – Stardock Entertainment, developer and publisher of award-winning PC games, announced today that Derek Paxton has joined the studio as senior producer and will oversee Stardock’s ongoing development and expansions of the recently released fantasy strategy game, Elemental: War of Magic (www.elementalgame.com).
Paxton is the creator and lead designer of the Fall from Heaven series of fantasy strategy games. Prior to joining Stardock, he was an external consultant for Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword and contributed to several of Firaxis’s games including the recent Civilization V.
"This is the opportunity to marry my professional project manager career with my passion for game design,” said Paxton. “I’m especially excited to work with the talented people at Stardock who have always been focused on creating great PC strategy games. I’m currently immersing myself in the world of Elemental, and I think everyone will be excited to see what is coming from Stardock Entertainment.”
Stardock CEO, Brad Wardell, will serve as the executive producer and lead AI developer on Elemental.
Wardell stated, “Stardock has experienced continued growth from its various gaming and enterprise products as well as our digital distribution platform, Impulse. As a result of our loyal fan base and successes, we have been fortunate to be able to attract some of the top talent from across the industry. Derek brings to Stardock a unique blend of strategy game design knowledge and a great deal of project management experience from his non-gaming career.”
As with all Stardock releases, the company is dedicated to providing post-release support for Elemental: War of Magic with free updates to enhance game play and ensure that the game evolves over time to its full potential.
Wow, congrats indeed. Very interesting development. :)
Congrats to Kael! (and I look forward to getting Elemental once it is thoroughly Kael-ized.)
Fantastic news - I saw the rumors and hoped it would be true.

Cool. This sounds like a good pairing. The silver lining is that it seems Elemental can only improve at this point.
.
Wow, I think that’s the best news I’ve heard about Elemental since its development started. I can’t wait to see what comes out of this now.
Wow, my interest whne Brad started this thread ages ago was somewhat lukewarm, then I was glad I didn’t bother, then I was just watching the trainwreck and now I’m genuinely interested in buying the game once it’s re-released or once whatever version is the Kael-version.
It’s still rather late to add an actual game designer to the team, but the pick is inspired and Kael has earned a lot of goodwill, so I’ll be watching development with interest now.
Congratulations. Now things are starting to look interesting.

+1. Now everyone SHUT UP and don’t kick this thread again even ONE TIME until the Kael-version is released. OK? Can we all get on the same page here? Who’s with me? Wait, don’t answer that.

Too bad the game already came out. Though now I’m much more interested in keeping up with future developments, and not just for the schadenfreude.
Wow. This is actually very good Elemental news.

I had heard the rumors yesterday and was crossing my fingers, I’m so glad they were true. Elemental has a lot of potential and I can’t think of anyone better than Kael to figure out a way to make it work and add some character to the game.
