All I have to say about Kael’s addition is SWEET!

this.

You were already looking at a year or two in reality for Elemental to possibly live up to it’s potential. A year to be a playable, stable, reasonably satisfying and relatively bug-free genre title, two years of expanded content and systems to be up to exceptional, TotA standards. I don’t see his presence changing that one way or the other.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. I’m very excited to start working with Stardock and on Elemental.

This makes me more likely to eventually buy a copy of Elemental (*), and less likely to eventually buy a copy of Civ 5.

(*) Ok, “buy again” if you want to get technical.

Fantastic News! Good luck with the new job Kael, I can’t wait to see what you do with the game.

Awesome! Congratulations Kael.

I don’t want to be histrionic or anything, and I recognize this as my own failing, but here’s how much Brad has burned me on anything Stardock ever produces: This news’s only effect on me is not feeling excited about what Kael can do to Elemental, but rather dreading what Elemental (and Brad) can do to Kael.

So, yeah. Hope you avoid the fates my mind’s conjuring up for you, dude, and either prosper or at the very least get out of it unscathed.

Congrats Kael!!

Kael was the man who got me to buy Civ IV with FfH. I was disappointed when the standalone FfH fell through so this is great news for him and us.

Looks like he will be the man that gets me to buy Elemental this time.

Good luck, Kael.

You’ll need it.

:)

OMG Kael what have you done to Elemental? It was working fine before you took over and now it’s an unplayable mess!

This kinda reminds me of the wave of euphoria that swept the Spore thread when Soren’s presence was announced.

Awesomesauce!

I hope they let you really put your stamp on it, Kael. I can’t wait!

I think a key difference here is that Kael will be working with a much smaller organization than Soren.

Also this.

I do not envy him the task of keeping Brad Wardell in line, however. :)

I’m sure there will be very little of that, considering Brad is his direct superior.

Yeah, it’s not directly comparable, I was just struck by a few similarities. I hope Kael is able to influence things positively - I finally have some confidence that the game might eventually end up as something I genuinely enjoy playing.

Congrats to Kael. Here’s hoping this can turn Elemental in a more interesting direction.
