I knew I’d get someone with that bait ;)

There are also people out there who do enjoy E:WoM how it is. The other reason for them splitting off Fallen Enchantress into it’s own development branch is so that work on E:WoM could continue for those who enjoy the game in it’s current form.

There are!!!

I’m assuming it’s the same people that have a fetish for being kicked in the balls by Japanese girls. It’s pretty close to the same experience, just replace “Japanese girl” with “Bearded coder”.

This is just wow. What a mental image you gave me.

I’m gonna go be alone for a while.

Give Stardock some credit. They admitted they messed up, they’ve been working very hard to make things right, making the right decisions, bringing people on-board to fill the gaps that helped lead to the situation with the initial Elemental release. These are good people there, including Brad, who truly love what they do and have a vision they’re excited to bring to people.

The biggest problem in America today, especially in politics and economics, is people who are wrong or make mistakes, and instead of admitting it and learning - go on to build on their idiocy. Senator, Economist Phil Gramm who helped orchestrate our current fnancial nightmare is a perfect example.

Not saying you have to like the game, but at least stop bemoaning the past since they’ve done everything they can to fix it… and then some. Not too many companies do that nowadays and it’s disingenious to ignore that.

Oh I support Stardock. I just haven’t played EWOM but a handful of hours and came away very dissatisfied.

I’m not bemoaning the past. I’m just not going to preorder anything made by Stardock unless they have a few wins in a row on their record again.

I don’t think that telling someone to hold off on purchasing Elemental as it is now is some egregious wrong against Brad and company.

Well, i’m willing to give Fallen Enchantress a good second look, considering who they have working on it now. In fact, it’s actually very good news that both Derek Paxton and Jon Shafer are working on the same project, as i think Jon has good ideas in the abstract that need another co-designer to help flesh out into a workable, comprehensive design.

I think Brad does mean well and wants to make good on his promises, it’s just that he’s can’t help being a salesman even if it means he has to say things which call his veracity or judgement into question, a trait that does him little credit, and would be more forgivable in a less established company.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with that. If I wasn’t getting FE free, I’d hold off myself, and I’d recommend waiting for FE and reviews before purchasing to others.

That said, Stardock is doing what it can, and going beyond what most companies either would do or be able to do. They deserve another chance, especially since GC2 was a well-done game.

I haven’t touch Elemental since patch 1.08 or 1.09. There were a lot of good ideas but no real cohesion between them in my opinion. I am disappointed but at least I’ll be getting the first two expansions free from buying the game at launch and it does sound like they are on the right track with everything.

Yea, I’m definitely not ragging on Stardock, just about any other company would have walked away from the project without thinking twice.

I’m actually really curious what Fallen Enchantress will be like. For starters, I’m a huge fan of Kael’s work in FFH, and two I think Stardock had a ton of great ideas for Elemental, they just didn’t gel into a fun game.

Mix the Elemental concept with Kael’s imagination and a hefty dose of lessons learned and it could be a recipe for a great game.

I am encouraged by the fact that we have new posters who know nothing of the rage and loathing that occurred during the thousands of previous posts in this thread. ;)

If having features on the box or website that are not available on launch day doesn’t mean the game is unfinished, then I don’t even know why we bother claiming there is such a thing as unfinished games. I don’t think it means much at all to say one thing and then turn around and spin it someplace else either.

Well, now that you mentioned it it’s probably more like new posters who didn’t know about all that ;)

Also, Stardock has posted a small video-diary about some of the new stuff in Fallen Enchantress.

The talk about selecting traits for your troops makes me cautiously optimistic that the different troop types will behave differently.

I’m really digging the design of those monsters, I’m assuming they are new. They certainly feel like a step-up from what I’ve seen of the core game.

Sounds like Elemental will never get fixed since Fallen is now a separate product. If this is the case, chalk it up as yet another broken promise and set of public lies from Wardell.

Did you even bother to read this page?

Elemental will be continued working on, as Fallen is another team that does it. This is to ensure that the core product will be what it was meant to be.

Nice outrage, though

More importantly, Fallen Enchantress will be free for anyone who bought Elemental last year, and there will be a discount for anyone who buys Elemental this year.

They’ve already announced that after 1.2 is a 1.3 full of gameplay improvements.

I do think things will taper off after that, if FE takes off fully.

as for the monsters, Elemental does have some interesting monsters, you just never see them (except for one of Brad’s beta AI builds with 1.1, which people complained about due to difficulty- you had mire skaths on turn 10 attacking starting towns)
