On the DLC front, it’s not entirely clear. They explicitly equate “units” with players, which suggests it doesn’t count DLC, but on the other hand the revenue calculation being based on £10 a unit kind of hints that it does.

Braben has clearly stated they have no plans for Steam, but, it could change. And they do talk about additional platforms, explicitly Mac, but presumably also consoles at some point. Regardless, even the “mid” case talks about 16 times more sales in 2017 than in the year to May 2015, which seems nuts (absent aggressive monetisation).

Interesting. They do have cosmetic DLCs such as paint jobs for ships, I wonder where/how those are factored in. £10 is what the their cosmetic packs are priced at.

I just can’t see those cosmetics selling much (especially to non-backers) if they don’t allow external cameras.

I also don’t see Elite selling all that much to a mainstream audience once Star Citizen is released, given the marketing behemoth it has become.

And they could totally do so, at least in Supercruise, where you can’t do any fighting anyway, so it’s not a tactical advantage. It would make for some amazing vistas too.

Sure, I agree. I’d just imagine they’d have a lot more variety in the future. Not to mention that an external view (via drone or something along those lines) has been talked about, just not something you could use in combat.

I’m not sure about Star Citizen, I think they are very different products. And this is just gut feeling, but I think that game is more likely to crater into a flaming mess than it is to be a runaway success (although I certainly hope I’m wrong). That if they ever bother to release the damn thing instead of running multi-million dollar sales for more imaginary ships. :)

I keep saying, they need to sell licensed celebrity voice pack for the ship’s computer, like TomTom did with their GPS units back in the day. I would pay $20-30 easily for a Brian Blessed voice back, for example. EASILY.

Money on they table, if you ask me.

Anyway, the market seems to be more optimistic/trusting than me - Frontier shares are up 12% on the day.

Hello QT3er’s

Long time lurker, 1st time poster.

Having a blast in Elite and am flying a C class Cobra which I have bought by mining and collecting bounties of those who want my goodies. Best bounty was $45,000 and once found a rock that was giving 70% + Palladium. I find it relaxing to mine with the excitement of wondering if every new contact will scan me and if they do what are they? A novice Sidewider which will be a easy $2000 bounty or a deadly Python and I have to get the hell out of there.

Have a question. Does having more pips in the engine help your speed in supercruise or just for normal mode?

Everyone probably already knows this but I just figured it out. When you are landing on a Coriolis station (big multifaced cube) the symbols on the Coriolis in the target window are arrows that point to which side the entry is on.

GlaDOS announcer voice pack! And then an Elite announcer pack in Dota 2! Worlds collide!

The voice of GlaDOS also did the Jaeger’s computer voice in Pacific Rim, right? If so, yeah, I am all over that shit.

Nope.

does friendship drive charge speed get affected by pips in either engine or system?

I don’t believe it is directly affected, but it will affect the speed at which you escape anything masslocking you.

Not exactly warp 5 but I was in a pissy mood because of that bounty I earned myself. Lesson learned though: cool off before docking AND make sure you don’t traverse the mail slot into the station if there’s a large ship already passing it through it. I got wedged up against the wall once by a Python and since I couldn’t get out quickly enough I got a fine and some warnings to GTFO or die.

How about some Mr. T too?

WE’RE UNDER ATTACK FOOL. FRIENDSHIP DRIVE ENGAGING . . . WAIT I AIN’T YOUR FRIEND FOOL. LOWER YOUR LANDING GEAR SUCKA.

Seems to be system. I once had all my pips into Engine and Weapon and was trying to figure out why it was taking ages to charge up. I directed some to system and then vroooom.

Maybe it was something else going on, but I know I wasn’t mass locked or had anyone near me (I was the only ship in the instance, in deep space).

Beautiful. :)

I ain’t gettin’ in no spaceship, fool.

Do want.

I am really looking forward to this ship!
