Woohoo! My EDTracker has shipped.
Huzzah! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine! Didya get a 9150 model?
Yes, I went for the £40 pre-built one with magnetometer and cable. Have you tried it with ETS 2, by the way?
That’s the way to go my friend. Enjoy! It’s weird calibrating at first, but once you get it all up and running, it’s splendiferous. Just make sure it warms up first (the UI has a temp indicator that turns green once it’s ready to be used/calibrated).
How large is your monitor, Brian? I assume the EDTracker works better the larger your monitor, so that head movements can be larger and still be looking at the screen, right? Mine is 21 inch 16:10. It was ginormous when I bought it, but it seems to have shrunk. Amazing, really.

Update soon? I just fired the game up and got into the cockpit only to be greeted with a server message that it was going down in about 10min in order to apply the 1.1 update. So fingers crossed…
EDIT: Looks like the 1.1 update is live. Downloading now.
Just in time for my head tracker to arrive.
I have a 27 inch monitor. You can adjust the sensitivity in the EDTracker UI to compensate for larger or smaller monitors I’m sure.

So one nice change I really like, now when selling cartographic data you can sell the entire page, you don’t have to sell each sector individually. Also, when selling you get a breakdown of what each scanned item nets you. Finally! Oh, and plotting long distance routes now seems much, much quicker.

Much nice them two things
Really enjoying the game still. Like the tweaks to graphics too. Much sharper shadow definitions.
On the other hand my favourite ship fit dont fit no more :(
Can you elaborate please?
The next chapter in my ‘I suck at combat’ saga: After trading in my hauler for a viper, then outfitting viper with beam lasers and gimballed missiles, I destroyed my first ship! It felt great.
Problem was, I forgot to scan the sucker before engaging and it was not a bounty ship. So I became wanted, and got destroyed when I entered George Lucas station. Cost me 25Kcr to get refitted. My bad. Next time I’ll hopefully earn money for a kill.
Questions:
–I’ve been going to USS sites to find bounties and not finding much. Is it better to go to RES sites?
–Once you’ve been destroyed because you’re wanted, does that end the bounty on your head?
–If you’re wanted, is it safer to go to stations with landing pads?
Answers:
– Res Sites and Nav Beacons are (or were pre 1.1) the best spots for ad-hoc bounty hunting. The patch has dramatically tuned down the number of wanted ships spawning. Bounty hunting is less enjoyable and even less profitable than it was before.
– No, bounties on you are always persistent when dying and respawning, unlike exploration data and bounties you’ve earned on others.
– Outposts with external pads are safest. No station defences and relatively fewer police ships to scan you (if any at all).
I’ve died with (and because) a small Warrant on me and it’s cleared when I respawn. I did some ad-hoc bounty hunting at a REC I was at for the last few days (it’s in an anarchy system so I am using a warrant scanner on everyone before I open fire) and it seemed about the same as far as volume - sometimes you go to a REC and there is like a sidewinder and some system ships and that’s about it, sometimes you wait a few minutes and before you know it there are half a dozen wanted Cobra’s that could be worth 10-25k each.
I’m just watching Netflix slash enjoying the scenery, so it’s fine with me either way, but I did notice even in 1.1 I accidentally hit a non-combatant and got a warrant with just that one single laser blast - that annoyed me as I thought the patch was supposed to address that. It’s a space boner killer when I have to run away and clear my warrant, super damn annoying.
I seem to recall reading in the 1.1 patch notes that the bounty/warrant behaviour on death has been changed. I’m still waiting for my tracker to arrive before I jump back in though, so I can’t say how.
Did the non-combatant have shields? The new system is supposed to forgive incidental non-targetted shots that hit shields (up to a point) but not anything that does hull damage. If you hit a bystander that has no shields up, you’re still going to pick up a small bounty.
Ah, good to know - I don’t actually recall if it had shields or not, but I’ll assume it did not and learn from the experience. Thanks for clearing that up!
There will be a hotfix today, mainly to fix a bug where your ship can be destroyed by barely scraping against another ship. Until then, be careful when entering/exiting mail slots. :)
What what WHAT? Boooooooooo!

Mining and bounty hunting trail far behind trading in the space bucks earning department and hearing this nerf diminishes my desire to log back into the game. What’s the rationale for it?
