As far as I can tell, only that the “excess” spawning of wanted ships was unintentional.

I like to think that they did it for balance - more fun, less credits.

Less credits = less fun, imo. Same deal with the bounty hunting nerf.

The spawn rates were always silly but I disliked the grind enough as it was.

Agreed.

Though if you are trying to mine in an REC and wanted class pirates are constantly spawning in, THAT wouldn’t be much fun either…

I care less about profitability as I do about…funability? I loved finding ship after ship after ship to shoot down. It’s not like they were all Anacondas and I was making mad money or some shit. Bleh.

Has anyone tried the conflict zones since the patch? What are the combat bonds worth now?

The game is dying for an arena mode. Imagine flying across the galaxy for a big tournament or a league, against NPCs or players. Simulations or risk your real ship for more money. 1v1, 2v2, FFA, spectator modes. Put it behind their damn rep grind if they want people out in the universe.

This is what I love about the game, so if they nerfed this it will mean more sitting around and waiting for a dog fight, which is not great. I’ve made over a million credits just dog fighting in REC zones, and it’s still the first thing I want to do when I get off work even two weeks later. I guess if it’s really nerfed I can spend some money on a hauler and try trading/mining though, but it’s not what I want to do just at the moment, either.

That said, like I mentioned above, I hunted in an REC last night and more this morning and it didn’t FEEL much different in terms of how frequently wanted ships spawned in, I pulled in over 80k in credits over the course of say 30-45 minutes before work this morning.

Huh, that sounds pretty normal, Bleed, so maybe it’s okay.

Tim, this is something I wish they had. Jumpgate had a simulator mode wherein you could load an area, jump in any ship with any equipment, and fly around without worrying about your own shit. It was GREAT not just for trying out new equipment, training and practicing, but for holding the very type of events you mentioned. I would love, LOVE if Elite had this as well.

It’s not as if they were all spawning in on top of you. They would spawn ones or small groups at various locations near the area. You would clean up one fight, and then still generally have to go looking for the next one by picking out laser beams in the distance, indicating an ongoing fight, then zoom over.

This was my experience even post patch last night and this morning - I’d fight a wanted sidewinder, then look at my contacts and see three cobras on the list, two would be clean and the third would be wanted, then I’d see laser fire in the distance where two wanted sidewinders were at, rinse and repeat getting 1500-3000 per side winder and at one point 25k for a cobra. Seemed about the same to me as it did the previous week of hunting.

Cobras or bust for RES farming. The security forces distract them. You just need the last hit or whatever the mechanics are now.

I believe if you get a hit within the last 10 seconds of the target’s lifespan, you get the bounty. I think.

Do you just stick this thing on a cap or something? The only awkward thing for me right now is looking around with the POV hat.

Just mine outside RECs, it’s a lot more peaceful.

I have my velcroed and rubber-banded to the top of my headset. You can see here:

Oh damn, I had not thought of that. Seems so obvious now but yeahhh… thanks Brian.

Put in an order now and hope to be pleasantly surprised in a few weeks when I’ve long forgotten about it.

Yay! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. :)

Found my first black hole in the Maia system. Bring an advanced discovery scanner if you’re curious, as it’s around 370k ls from the primary. Also note that Maia is 150 ly from the nearest outpost or station, near as I can tell, smack in the middle of the Pleiades Nebula, so be prepared for a long, long journey.
