Been fighting an infection and have actively tried to not think about this game and a few others as it actually made me a lot depressed than normal to be in the hospital. I dom’t know if that means games are that good or that I’m messed up in the head.

Out of curiosity, have they talked about whether they plan to do expansions in the future? Or will they simply continue with the content patches? I imagine that’s not sustainable forever, thus the question.
They haven’t just talked about it, they sold lifetime expansion passes, so yes there will be expansions. The planetary landings are expected to be expansion content.

Also their revenue projections clearly include substantial DLC sales years into the future, as discussed earlier in the thread.

OK, thanks for the info, guys. I’m pretty comfortable with that. In fact, I’d be more worried about the longevity of the game if they didn’t have a funding strategy going forward.
Well, personally I don’t think their strategy is particularly realistic, but it should last long enough for the planetary landing DLC at least.

It’s true they aren’t selling ships for a game that isn’t released yet, but I think they’ll manage to get by. If they put a refrigerator-shaped ship in the online store, it alone would keep the lights on for a year or two.

They’ve just announced that E:D will be coming to XBO this year. Bit of a coup for MS. This is about as epic an “indie” game as you can get.
We can only imagine the jauntyness of the money-hat Braben is wearing right now. I’ll bet MS paid big dollar for this.

Thats rather disappointing.
I don’t really see how it could affect the PC version, in fact it could provide a revenue stream that allows the PC version (which will be MUCH easier to upgrade/patch) even more content than would otherwise have been possible.
I play the game with an Xbox One controller and it’s a breeze to do so - this is a natural fit, and think of the non-PC gamers that could become exposed to great games like this, instead of Call of Duty or GTA. This strikes me as a potential Good Thing.
