I need to jump back in and kill my way to a Vulture.

That was fun. Vulture, here I come!

Haha, I will be sure to let you know in great detail! :)

RPS interview Mr.Braben about ED:

Not a hatchet job like the Peter/Godus interview, but pretty ‘lite’ considering the love it/hate it split the forums reflect quite often? I’m in the middle, love what it can be (with expansions etc), slightly underwhelmed by what it is currently, but know it will keep getting better.

Honestly, I don’t know what people expect him to say. He doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy who’s going to apologize profusely for what he sees as business as usual in game development. They had to cut single player and it sucks but I imagine he’s still proud of what he released.

Well that and inquiring as to how he feels about angry internet people is not terribly interesting. I suppose it does helpfully illustrate how one ought to be careful about kickstarting a project if a cut feature would be a complete deal breaker.

Wait, what!?! What is it I’ve been playing since December?

An online only game, of course.

And therein lies the rub. I doubt that in this day and age, “online only” is that big a deal, and while there are some folks who are legitimately inconvenienced by this, as time goes on and prices slowly come down, that number should shrink. But take away “single-player” in a game that has only ever been single-player, and suddenly you’re playing with matches. Folks conflating the two, mistakenly or otherwise, only add to the confusion.

Probably something similar to what I experience in D3.

So the community goal rewards for the conflict in Lugh are tempting. There’s a combat goal for each side, so it doesn’t really matter who you side with, and the reward structure currently looks something like this:

Current Participation Rewards:
Top 5%: 17,500,000 Cr + global awards
Top 15%: 12,500,000 Cr + global awards
Top 40%: 10,000,000 Cr + global awards
Top 70%: 5,000,000 Cr + global awards
Top 100%: 70,000 Cr + global awards

I’m not sure what the global rewards are, as I’m in the middle of a deep space survey, but given these community missions last until March 31st, I’m mighty tempted to make my way back and buy myself a vulture… This thread has more details.

Lugh is still ongoing, then? I should probably head over and check it out. Unfortunately for me, I just sold my Cobra with a 17LY+ jump range and top of the line fuel scoop for a Vulture that has a jump range akin to a middle-aged white guy.

That sounds fascinating, I might have to head over there next chance I get.

Oh, shit, I haven’t played since they nerfed the shit out of bounties - is that viable again? I’d love a reason to get back in the cockpit and fire up the ol’ super cruise!

Bounty hunting is very lucrative.

They basically just doubled bounties.

Yeah. And i’m slightly annoyed they keep doing this kind of thing, not because i don’t want those higher levels (as i do) but that it seems the QA process is almost entirely lacking, as we have shed loads of really badly balanced aspects, and they often change between patches and it almost feels they are just tweeking stuff for the heck of it sometimes? But atleast you are not forced to only trade-grind now to make big bucks.

Maybe they should remove the MMO glasses and just work on making it a bit more even for progress across the ‘work’ spectrum? Atleast then you won’t feel forced to do something you might not enjoy that much? Anyway small steps forward are still steps forward, and ED still has a long way to go to reach where it should/could be at.

Well I have to say Wings feels fantastic. Sadly voice comms don’t work when using Voice Attack at the same time, which is DELIGHTFUL, but other than that just being able to jump into the same instances alone feels great. The RESes around Back Enterprise seem to see a lot more clippers and drop ships these days too, so yeah, overall I’m pretty happy with these recent tweaks.

Oh, I flew a Viper for the first time the other day. Skipped it earlier because I wanted a damned Cobra, but since my wingman had one I figured we’d fly the same ship and it was damned cheap. NOW I get why folks like beam weapons on the thing. Lots of fun as long as you have enough power, just glad I don’t plan to jump anywhere with it.

I noticed last night that when I turned in my bounties, I was no longer gaining rep with that particular faction (in this case, Federation). I’m still a Cadet in a Viper. Does this mean I need to gain rep in other ways (ie, though missions)? Or is the game trying to tell me I need to upgrade to a bigger ship and go after tougher bounties? I have about a million credits in the bank.

And also lowered the repairs/refuel prices by a pretty drastic amount

I answered my own question tonight. I was given an intel operative to complete. Can’t really say much about it… covert operation and all. ;) Needless to say, that got me promoted, finally.

Also, you guys were right… made 250k in about 30 minutes from combat in a RES. That’s pretty insane. If I can make money this quick, I’ll be upgrading my Viper to a Vulture in no time.
