Can we Steamify existing keys?
Oh thank heavens!! Really dodged a bullet there.

My backlog is insane, and I suck at 3dspace games or I would have backed on KS to begin with. I very nearly did half a dozen times. I almost bought it when it launched but again, backlog. Now that it’s on Steam I’m sure I will get it that way… eventually =)
Hehe. There’s really no rush with these Endless Access games. The game keeps getting better and cheaper while you play other games. The only risk is missing out because you never discern a good point to jump in. But I think I’d rather do it that way than play an incomplete game.
Money is obviously an issue, and probably this will mean the death of ED for me. I suspect it to go full steam at some point which means it won’t work for me. Oh well. £80 as a thankyou for Elite since the 80’s, that has been on every computer i’ve owned (and still is in terms of FFED3D) is ok from my end. I had not really got into ED much yet, the online aspect is annoying and i was waiting for ‘more’ game to make it more feature complete like FFE (planet landings, more ships, full factions etc).
Why on Earth would you think that? ED requires its own authentication.

Zak, I think you’re seriously jumping to conclusions. I’m not aware of a single game that has its own online authentication going Steam-only once they release on the platform, and I have dozens of them in my catalog.
They didn’t utilize Steamworks to develop the game, so there’s no reason to continue offering the game without Steam.
Zak, out of curiosity, how are you playing Elite? In the Fallout 3 thread you mentioned your gaming machine is also your work machine and is always offline - that’s why stuff like Skyrim and FNV elude you, as you refuse to buy into the Steam camp. Elite requires authentication to launch, doesn’t it? Or is there an offline mode?
There is no offline mode at all with Elite: Dangerous except for the single player training missions.
Zak, I’m sorry, but you seriously need to pull back the drama-o-meter on this one.

I’ve had no issue with using any of these functions by adding it as a non-steam game to Steam since late beta versions. I recommend you give that a shot to see if it works for you too.
That’s true - I almost never think to do that. What specific .exe should I be adding?

I added the launcher, EDLaunch.exe and it did the trick. Steam seems to understand game launchers pretty well for a while now.
I’ve used Steam to launch the ED launcher since the game launched (sorry about that*), mostly to use the Steam overlay to take and upload screenshots. Also, it amuses me to no end to see Steam displaying the FPS for the launcher window. :)
At any rate, I’m glad to see ED debut on Steam at #1 in the top sellers list.

What is your favorite Vulture loadout? I’ve recently been flying around in one with a single fixed beam and a fragment cannon, which seems an effective combination except for the rather low ammo count on the frag cannon.

I was using twin gimballed pulse lasers, mostly because that’s what i could easily afford. Heat was an issue - but not excessively so
I too am using gimbaled pulse lasers and they’re just a barrel of fun.

Anyone have an opinion on pulse vs. burst lasers?
