Just wrapped up my 3 deliveries, I had 5m credits, now 23m.

Also, be careful around that system, there are a lot of brown dwarf and white dwarf stars. I might milk this over the weekend just so I can feel loaded, or actually get a groovy ship.

It’s taken me an hour and a half to go about 2/3 of the way. I have no idea how to find a place to dock Out here or if that’s even possible.

I looked at my gear, and saw I had a class A fuel scoop. Silly me, I should use the thing, I told myself. 70 jumps turned to 14.

I’m a bit puzzled at some of the numbers thrown around on the last few pages of this thread - have the mission rewards been bumped up that much since release (when they were ~100k at most) or is this some special community goal event?

I guess what I’m really asking is - is the game less grindy now?

Each time you enter the combat zone, you need to choose a faction before you get any bonds (just in case you didn’t already know this). On your right panel select the Functions tab and then the first item should be Faction [CHOOSE FACTION]. Click that and you can pick Tabaldak Emperor’s Dawn or Tabaldak Imperial Society. Make sure to pick the Imperial Society if you want to get credit for the CG, though.

Son of a bitch! Yeah definitely didn’t do that, does the game tell you to do that somewhere or is that another part of the game you have to rely on outside sources to figure out? Anyway I’m in Sothis right now hoping to pick up a valuable trade mission. Took me almost 3 hours to get here last night so getting back to populated space will take me all of tonight too I figure.

Do it in an Asp with a couple of extra fuel tanks and you won’t even need to scoop fuel at all. Mine currently has 80t cargo space and can go about 430ly, using fastest route, without running out of fuel. Can sacrifice some more cargo space to get that even further if needed.

Income has been increased for all gameplay avenues since release. Though the amounts being given out for the Sothis smuggling runs are probably unintended (mission rewards now scale with distance and there’s a handful of systems way out from the rest of civilized space that might not have been accounted for when they implemented the change) and I would expect it to be “fixed” any day now.

The real grind is the powerplay stuff.

I don’t have an Asp…maybe I can afford one now :)

Edit: Picked one up, am trying to figure out the loadout to carry 80t and go 430ly. It’s a head scratcher. I assume you have no shields for one. 64t fuel tanks?

Aargh I’m such a bonehead: figured I’d get in on the new Emperor’s coronation CG to deliver slaves/imperial slaves to Dawes Hub in Achenar (yes I’m a terrible person). So I get there and sell my iSlaves before going to the BB and actually signing up for the CG.

Ugh, that hurts. I hate when I do that.

It is a little hit and miss for me in my Viper doing the low intensity zones in Tabaldak, but most of the time I am able to rack up a few bonds before they chase me out with 25-50% hull left. I am up to 1.86 million contribution so far, but that is still top 40% it says. Hopefully it succeeds and I can get a nice payday at the end of this as I could use a new hull eventually :).

On the bright side, at least I didn’t make the schlep out to Hutton Orbital and do that for the CG a few weeks back. That would have REALLY hurt.

So after my 3 hour journey out to Sothis last night, I logged in today hoping to pick up some lucrative trading missions and I don’t qualify for a single one! Every mission requires a higher rank or allegiance than i have so…that’s not great. I even tried logging in and out of the different modes and still no luck. A bunch of 3-6 mil missions that i don’t qualify for. How often do these update? I’d hate to have spent all this time coming out here for nothing.

It takes forever sometimes for one to pop up. I’m not 100% sure on how often the missions refresh on their own, but I’ve heard 5 minutes. I’ve heard 15 minutes, I’ve heard 1 hour…who knows?

I assure you I was getting them with only friendly Federation rank, no trading rank, and no Sothis rep. It took forever of doing the silly mode-switching, but they will appear eventually.

Well that’s what you get for trying the easy way out, taking advantage of an obvious imbalance exploit to make a fast buck!

You think they’ll take away my 42+ million I’ve done so far? Unlikely. They’re the ones that made a Community Goal to build a station out in the fringes, they made the distance of a smuggling mission factor into the payout.

Not an exploit. An error in Frontier judgement if anything.

Of course they won’t do that. Is it an exploit, if many people are exploiting an imbalance to make a lot of money fast in lieu of the other game systems? Is it an exploit logging out/in multiple times to fill your hold? :)

I was being cheeky using the word exploit though. But it’s certainly taking advantage of a balance issue. They boosted the smuggling rewards in 1.4, they know about Sothis, and they will probably re-balance it again in the patch which I think is next week. So make the most of it now!

I’d do it myself but like agapepilot I’m not sure I quite have the pre-requisites. And going from one million to fifty million overnight seems a bit much.

I am taking clear advantage of it. The ships cost way too much in proportion to the rest of the game. These guys that mined their way to an Anaconda are crazy.

Now maybe I can not be stuck in a Viper/Cobra and actually have a decent time.

Yeah I found a few now actually, picked up 3 missions for around 8 mil total now I’m hopping my way back to civilization, desperately hoping to avoid interdiction in my shield-less DBS. One of the mission descriptions seems to indicate I’ve got to go BACK out to Sothis after dropping off the cargo to get paid, is that a thing?

Nope, paid on delivery.

It’s an interesting gold rush scenario, a mass of prospectors travelling out to the frontier in the hopes of striking it rich. I read that a group is out there now in Open play, blockading Sothis to prey on the smugglers.
