Ah! Yeah, I did some looking around myself too and I see that you guys are correct.
Good idea on the suicidewinder. I may try that. I can appreciate the bounty keeping me on my toes a bit in the Mbere system, but I may grow tired of it before the week is up and just blow myself up once :). It seems that my best place to hunt is there in Mbere for pirate killing missions, so I run into it a lot.
So last night in my new Asp (or rather my second new one*) I went and mined at a high intensity resource site. I had one pirate in a Sidewinder attack me but I went ahead and made short work of him. I find it helps to get a good number of clicks away from the midpoint of the zone in order to avoid pirate attention. Gotta say, mining is now way easier than before (especially in low light conditions) now that we have prospector and collector drones–I’m really liking it. I managed to mine 18 tons of palladium (which, crazily, put me in the top 66% of contributors to the new Kaushpoos CG with my first haul) as well as a bunch of osmium, gold and silver, plus platinum that I needed for a mission. Reasonably lucrative trip all told, although on the way back to the local station (Jahn Hub I think) I got interdicted (but just submitted right away), and boosted/EMP/chaffed my way out of it. I’m going to try to mine some more today as well once I’ve got some other IRL stuff done.
*On my first haulage mission in my lovingly decked out new ship (had a Cobra before) I got interdicted by an NPC pirate… I fought it for a good long while but could never quite shake the guy, so finally I said, no biggie, I’ll just submit, then boost, then high-wake to a different system so I’m not mass-locked. Well, after submitting to interdiction, the game fails to acknowledge that I did so (in other words acts like the pirate won the struggle), which damages my FSD, makes the cooldown extra long etc. and basically I was done for and got blown up. This was against an NPC pirate since I was playing in Mobius.
Luckily I had plenty of money to cover the insurance rebuy with a lot left over, but still over 400k poorer as a result.
Has anyone else had that happen, where the game fails to acknowledge submission to interdiction? I don’t think that I’d gotten to the point where the blue bar was almost gone or anything. If you submit after struggling for a while is it an automatic win for the interdictor?

In my experience, even when you submit to an interdiction by throttling down, the interdiction minigame still plays out until your speed actually reaches minimum/not-quite-zero. If in that time the interdictor wins the minigame by filling up all his bars, then you will (both) suffer damage when he pulls you out. So even when submitting, you should still try to follow the escape vector as best as you can until you actually drop out of supercruise. That said, even since doing this I’m sure I’ve still had the occasional hull damage result, which may or may not have been some sort of bug. (Certainly when the escape vector starts stuttering between two irreconcilable positions making the minigame impossible that has been the case.)
When submitting you don’t get damaged i think, the interdictor does tho.
Are you all playing on the Veloxi server in the Veloxi Virgin system or just in open play?

I think at least a few of us play in the Veloxi Private Group most of the time while playing. I have been hanging around the home station of Veloxi’s Vixens (not sure where you got Virgin from, heh) at Tombaugh Station in the Orcus system doing missions of mostly killing pirates in nearby systems.
I noticed that the Veloxi Vixen faction (Imperial Federalist Labour Party of Veloxi’s Vixens by full name) is Independent, but still lets you turn in Empire bounties. Does this mean that I will not be able to get ranking missions with the Empire at Tombaugh? I keep looking, but am thinking I need a true Empire system/station to start those. I have a few ranks in the Federation, but would like to work on Empire some too.
During the week I normally only get on for a quick mission or two, but hope to get on more this weekend including Friday during the day.
Has anyone else had the problem of the “open galaxy map” button (the one in the interface, not on one’s keyboard/joystick/controller) not actually performing its function when looking at a mission’s details in the transactions tab of the lower left panel? For me it just ends up taking you back to the list of missions/bounties/whatever.
Yeah but if you hit that, and then go back to Navigation and hit Galaxy Map it will pop up to the system you wanted to find. Well, that’s how it was working for me anyway.
I discovered that as well, but I didn’t know if that was how they intended it to work, since that’s not the way it works when you use the button when considering accepting or declining a mission (in which case it opens the map directly). I reported it in the Frontier bugs forum just in case.
OMG, 1.5 beta next week and 2.0 beta thanksgiving week?! Yup, according to this Q&A.
Yay!

… barring any big show stopper bugs of course. I wonder if surface starports will function like stations currently do, and if so, if they will show up in the nav systems. Guess in a couple weeks my questions will be answered.
Holy shit balls this looks pretty cool:

“Here’s another unedited video taken from Elite Dangerous: Horizons. Again, many things here are unfinished which I won’t call out. This shows another slow zoom, but this time showing the effect of volatiles forming as a mist in a deep crater on a cold, rocky, uninhabited world.”
yeah the 1:1 scale of ED is awesome, but don’t worry i’m sure they will work out a way to nerf that ;)
Kelan, nice playing with you just now. I like your load out, what exact weapons do you have, I might try it.

Yeah, good times! Thanks for the invite.
I thought we were going to be in trouble fighting that wing of 5/5, but it went really well.
Here is my current loadout:

With my 3.75% insurance from early access purchase, it ends up being 466,486 in insurance for a 12,439,560 full value fitting. I normally just use the one large fixed beam laser, but if I get in a good position, the cannon can do some good damage. The one beam can almost run 100% full time, but needs a bit of a pause at times due to heat if you are on a guy for a long time.
It also reminds me I have the money for an A FSD now so I can jump a bit further and make it to the nearby Fed system in one jump, I believe.
Looks good, I can just about afford the vulture with no load out. Need to earn another 8M credits.

Public Service Announcement:
If you upgrade your FSD and you rely on that being priority 2 or above to deploy your hardpoints, remember to reset your priorities! I got interdicted, pulled out my weapons, and my entire ship shut down while the pirate started wrecking my hull. I scrambled to re-assign all my priorities for secondary equipment and evaded/jumped out with 1% of my hull left! Close one!
So I’m now allied with the Veloxi vixens. Is there a way that I can help them win control of the system? What’s the long game?
Going to RES and building up credits is OK but I need more from this game.
Is there a list or details of the new ships coming with 1.5?

IIRC, 1.5 will bring the federal corvette, the imperial cutter, and the keelback (which is supposedly similar to the type-6, but with better weapon hardpoints/placement). I think Horizons adds the cobra mark IV, the viper mark IV, and the asp scout.
