My asp run also took about 3 hours all told. While a better FSD (and lower weight components in general) will help, most of my time was spent in system delivering things and fending off interdictions. It’s nice when the station is a few dozen ls from the jump-in, but if by luck you just happen to have a delivery to a station orbiting a star 400,000 ls from your jump in point, there’s just no way around the additional time-sink of flying all the way out there.
That said, I think I noticed in Fehu that, while mission payouts were fairly uniform between the two stations there, in general the missions from the Resort (agricultural station) typically required you to deliver slightly more tonnage than the missions from the Asylum (refinery). Taking missions primarily from the latter may allow you to squeeze one or two more missions worth of cargo into your hold.

I made it down to Kausalya this morning. It took me 8 jumps to travel the 108.85 LY from Orcus in my Vulture, but only took about 13 minutes so not too bad. All but the last two systems had stars you could scoop, so no real fuel dangers with a fuel scoop.
I joined up with the feds on the CG to start with and made a couple runs to the low intensity combat zone for a total of 1 million in bonds, but still have yet to crack above the top 70%. This one may take a bit more effort to get up the ranks it seems.
I also noticed I was able to get quite a few ranking offers with the federation there at Gernhardt station, so made a quick detour on a delivery mission to hit Chief Petty Officer rank. I will have to keep an eye out for more offers while there.

Is Fehu someplace a fairly basically-equipped guy like myself could make some scratch? I’m currently flying an Eagle I purchased whenever the last time I played was. It’s outfitted pretty darn cheaply right now (read: worst components known to man).
I’ve never really gotten the ‘groove’ of making money in Elite. My single biggest haul to-date has been when I put the last shot into a wanted NPC while he was fighting the Feds and scored a whopping 65k. Previously, my biggest haul had been nuking the occasional cheap pirate and getting the ~5k bounties.

Fehu is pretty much at the ass-end of nowhere, so you should at the very least be comfortable jumping long distances and fuel scooping. I wouldn’t recommend an eagle, but maybe a hauler might be in your price-range, and if you keep the weight down and A-grade its FSD, you should get some good jump range out of it. You’ll probably only have room for 2-3 missions, but that might get you a couple quick(-ish) million CR to get the ball rolling.

Sounds good. I’ll try tonight.
Though I haven’t quite figured out how to navigate the galaxy map with an OR. It seems to hate mouse input.
Be very careful going to Fehu tho, make sure to grab a fuel scoop, there is no place to refuel atleast 100ly away from there.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Besides, a scoop + A-class FSD, and a hauler is more than my budget can handle right now.
Not to mention that I’ll need to practice with a scoop.
Hah just saying, i almost ran out of fuel with my asp and i had to switch to economical mode not to get stuck in the middle of nowhere cuz i forgot to grab one.
Alright, on my way to Fehu right now, got an asp with mostly A equipment, so it’s only make 14 massive jumps and lots of scooping. Wheee!

When you get there, just remember that the resort is nicer than the asylum!
But apparently you get more missions at the asylum!
Will 82 cargo units be enough for a buncha missions?

Should be plenty. My asp run I had 88 units of cargo space, and I only used up 83. Each mission only averaged about 5-6 tonnes, I think. Some went as low as 2 tonnes, and as high as 9 or 10 tonnes, IIRC.
Ugh, only got 7 missions, 25 cargo. I switched out so cargo for fuel tanks, so I’ll have to scoop only once or twice.
Be prepared to be scared of the “8 new contacts” when you jump somewhere!
And for this :(
Log out and back in, should refresh the missions.

I think that’s enough fuel to make it there…
Eeeeeepp!
So now I’m allied with Fehu after that run, so hopefully I can do more missions next time.

There is a High Intensity Combat Zone really close to the Gernhardt Station in Kausalya for the community goal. Earlier it was like only 5.2Mm away, which took mere seconds to travel. It makes it much easier to run back and repair after getting chased out, which I am doing frequently ;).
I did crack into the top 40% at about 1.3 million, though, so that helps a bit.
So that was an exciting run! made about 6.5 million creds in 3 hours, and along the way found some imperial rank missions, so now I’m an outsider! Yay! I’ma head back tonight or tomorrow and do another run, hopefully with more missions. Thanks Vurt!

Ended up buying this last second in the Fall Sale and will finally have time to jump in this weekend. Thanks for all the resources in the first post to make it as painless as possible!
