Oh, yeah, I only play in Open, and I hardly ever see anyone even though I’ve never been outside the bubble. That’s the shell I refer to. Need to wing up with some folks.

I find all of the talk of ganking kind of amusing since I’ve been interdicted by one player in a year.

Got to lave, turned in my exploration data for 17M, for now that puts me in top 5%. The goal is about a third of the way through the last tier and though it’s set to end in about 10 days, i doubt it’ll make it to the weekend.

Funny though - after traversing some 16k LY there and back again, with nary a problem, i bop out of lave on a 4 hop to get my vulture and on the second hop I almost dust my asp into a white dwarf that I only barely got away from…

Thanks so much for the Fehu tip. I’ve made more credits in one day than I did the entire first month after launch. I was in Lave so I loaded up on rares from there and Leesti (32 cargo in a Cobra III). The trip to Fehu netted about 400k from that alone. Just made about 2.2 mil on 3 Fehu cargo missions back in. Along the way I stopped for exploration data which I’ll turn into Lave, making this a game changing trip for me.

Horizons Beta 4 is out, with the usual long list of fixes and tweaks, and a nice upgrade to ice planets.

It’s like living in a Chesley Bonestell painting.

For some reason I am not too excited about the landing on planets and exploring aspect, but perhaps I just don’t understand all you can do there. Are there different land vehicles that you need to buy? I should probably head to Frontier and read up on it more.

I’m not sure what it’ll be like on the 15th, but resources you find on planets is supposed to tie in to the loot and crafting systems that are coming in a later Horizons update.

Right, but (correct me if I’m wrong, because I might be) Beta is only accessible to A) people who pay for beta and B) on the beta server. Is that correct? My understanding is that the update is being rolled out to the live server and that everyone will ordered it will now have access to it through playing regularly. The Early Access label is probably an indication to expect some bumps in the road still, not a polished release.

All going well, we plan to launch Horizons with Planetary Landings on Tuesday (15th December – you heard it here first!). This will initially be termed an ‘Early Access’ release to highlight our normal process to our broad audience, some of whom have been with us since the start, but many have joined our community very recently.

It sounds like it’s about setting expectations. There will be hotfixes/updates to fix pressing issues, etc. As you said, “I thought this was going to cook a while longer”. It sounds like it is going to cook a while longer, but it will now be available to the general audience.
