You have to get a new product key in the Frontier store, since it’s a separate product.

Thanks Brian - where is that? Under downloadable products? Because the Third Party area just have “Unlink steam” in it.
Partner keys just have Elite itself in it.

Did you go to the partner keys page from your Frontier account, generate a Horizons key and give it to Steam?
Ayup, that’s how it should work.

My partner keys page shows a button thing labeled “Claim a key for Elite_Dangerous_Horizons”.

I went to my frontier account, and went to Partner keys - all I have there is my Elite Dangerous key. I am a premium Beta elite purchaser, so I should have it.
no button for me.
You purchased the lifetime pass? Owning the Elite Beta on its own doesn’t grant you Horizons access, that’s a separate product.

Premium is lifetime, yes.
Oh, sorry, premium beta, yeah, should be there. I guess they’re having issues rolling this out. I can’t even get a key yet. Thankfully it works via the standalone launcher.
Boy is this confusing. So should I bother with the 8GB Steam update? Are we going to be downloading the whole game again with 64-bit Horizons?
Frontier’s web site is being hammered. I can’t even bring up the site let alone grab a key.
On Steam, it seems that yeah, they’re entirely separate, which looks to be separate launchers. The standalone looks to be just the one launcher for all versions, it seems.

I’m not bothering with the 8Gb Steam update as Horizons includes everything that came before it.

$80 is a spicy meatball for this thing!

So since Horizons 64 is a totally different install than 32 bit Dangerous I wanted to uninstall the old one. However, couldnt find a way to do it through the launcher or Windows Programs. Had to manually delete the 32 bit game directory thats located in the username/AppData folder.

Uhm. First, as far as I know Steam is pointless. You can simply download the game through Steam, then move the directory outside of it and operate it without any trace of Steam.
Secondly, username/AppData folder sounds like an option folder, not an install one. The client itself is installed wherever is its main directory. So you probably just deleted some options instead of the 6+ Gb client folder.

oooh perty :)
I kitted her out with the largest fanciest scoop that would fit, a two bay buggy hangar, crappy little shields and a repair tool. Only two medium beams, all the small weapon bays are empty. She jumps well over 30LY and refuels in the time it takes to steer away from the star. I named her Cassie, after our housecat who is also well rounded, curious and able to finish a dinner in the time it takes to say ‘dinner’.
I <3 this game from the bottom of my heart :)
OH SHIT! That is fantastic.

Hand Brake? Wow neat! I wonder if you can use that to do fun stuff on the dunes!
I can’t wait to get out and get a good look at my ships on ground. I just got the game loaded so may pop in before the night is done.

Horizons doesn’t appear to work the same way as 1.0/1.4 with my Rift. This may take some tinkering to get working.
At least the Frontier-to-Steam key generator is working again.
