I cannot afford a Python as yet, but my main Asp is I think pimped out as much as one can be.
Oh, wait, you mean the Engineers stuff. I’ve actually not done any of that yet!

I stripped out the guns from my courier, threw in some enhanced drives and tuned them until they were good and dirty. At full throttle the ship does over 470 m/s. Boosting gets me into 600 m/s range. This would of course be even faster if I dump the shields and scarab bay, but the FSD has also been fiddled with to give me a smidge over 25 lights, and so the ship has become my zippy little explorer for near-bubble activity, and is a damn fine (low cost to replace) canyon racer to boot.
The only downside, and there is one, is that landing can be damn tricky. Even a tiny tap of the lateral thrusters sends me careening all over the landing pad. That said, doing barrel rolls through the station’s slot at 400 m/s never gets old.

I clicked on this thread not paying attention to what it was and thought you were talking about programming languages. I was about to reply to say that Python is free and open source.
Carry on.

The python is not free, its about a 120 million credits, and that is without a power plant and stuff.Open source? yea i guess, all ships in elite are kinda open source in that they are sold the same model all over human space and the engineers seem to be able to fiddle with their innards regardless of make or descent.
The engineer stuff is great. It has been tuned and tuned again by FDEV and now you get three mcguffins per scoop, so you will have at least three spins of the wheel if you manage to get all of the ingredients to a blueprint. They also made those ingredient lists smaller and less complicated. Engineering for the masses!
Did everybody else get their link to the long-awaited art book?

woosh
I got an art book link, haven’t had time to look at it yet though.
Is the engineering stuff patched into the base game or do you need Horizons to access it?

Horizons-only I believe. Certainly all the engineers’ bases are on planets.

Yeah, it’s part of the Horizons expansion.
So if you’re not that interested in the planet landing stuff does the Engineers stuff make Horizons worth the purchase?
They’re not separable - you need to obtain resources from planetary surfaces (and off-planet too) in order to take advantage of the Engineers’ services i.e. customising your ship(s). Anyway, what sort of agape pilot wouldn’t want to fly their spaceship down to a planet and drive a moon buggy around?
I needn’t have bothered writing anything since Astounded Riker has already done the heavy lifting.
I just found that GIF and already I love it so much.
Ha fair enough, everything I’ve seen from the planetary stuff just seems a little shallow is all. Knowing me I think I would get bored after a few times so I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it to me for the price.
Well, besides engineers, you also have more mission variety and places to do missions and such, so I like it for that alone.
Just teasing. There are three more major content updates due in Horizons in addition to the two already available, with the first of the three due soon-ish. Uncle Brabmus was clear that seasons don’t align with calendar years, which is handy since they’d be very very behind schedule if it did.
I binge on ED just after every major release then put it down for months, and that works for me since I have the lifetime pass. I thought the Engineers on release was a major grind and put it down, but they’ve already done an interim update to tone the grind down significantly I believe.
I am the exact same way, was with Jumpgate as well. Play heavily for weeks, burnout a bit, take a break. I’m coming out of one of those breaks right now, actually, due to tonight’s meetup.
Just curious Brian if you ever play Elite on Xbox? I ask because I see you post about playing but that’s the only platform I play on, and I haven’t really tried playing with other people (don’t know too many folks playing Elite on the Xbone).
