The last several instances of how he’s been insulated from actually having an effect at other companies pretty much tells me what’s what. Prior to Thailand I still thought he was a driving influence in two great companies. Now, he’s obviously a man child with a checkbook and an unbelievable run of luck.

I like going back like 5 years ago and looking at how people viewed Elon. He was an interesting character SpaceX and Tesla were exciting.

In all seriousness, growing up in apartheid South Africa and inheriting emerald mine fortune was the first red flag. He could have turned out differently but the odds were against it given the double-whammy of not having worked for his wealth and the other thing.

I think it was for most people.
But even then it was more a “whatever” situation. The part that made it a bigger deal is that it drew people’s attention to him. Before that nonsense he was “weird EV/rocket guy” that most people didn’t know a whole ton about other than he was super-rich. But once he was calling people pedos for not accepting his random ideas, people started looking into him and his companies and finding all sort of questionable or outright terrible shit.
