Heh, I was about to post that news. I had been wondering when he’d get aroinf to pitching a new Freedom Phone™.

It’s finally Facebook Phone’s time to shine!

The Tesla phone makes phone calls to the wrong people autonomously.
A Twitter phone will have a huge advantage that will let it be super cheap too! No 3/4/5G chips required! All Starlink, all the time!
Elon can’t lose!
Is there nothing this man can’t do??

I think Samsung has a patent for that.
Honestly I have no idea if this observation is true, but it seems like my Twitter feed is absolutely full of ads for junk gadgets.

Who needs advertisers when you have paid subscribers! Why have $2bn when you can have (checks notes) $1.12 million?
It is also a deliberate strategy.
“Woke” is just the most recent surrogate for “world communism” and “the jews” before that. You can sub it out for “radical Islam”, “the trans mafia” and “ANTIFA” if you want.
I don’t think most people want a Darwinian hellscape ruled exclusively by the rich, so to legitimize their vision, those who do need to be able to define themselves as the lesser evil to a greater one.
“We may be scum, but imagine being ruled by these guys”.
Without barbarians at the gate, the whole thing falls apart.
So in other words, re-create the failed Freedom Phone.
Musk’s mid-life initiative to buy himself friends by retooling himself into a darling of right-wing social media is doubly sad because of just how hackneyed and derivative it is. He’s just retracing the well-worn paths of the Parlers and the Truth Socials of the world a couple years later and spending a couple orders of magnitude more money to do it.
And in all likelihood he’ll end up in the same place as Kanye (who is buying Parler) and Trump: the ruler of a mostly empty echo chamber that only a handful of cultists cares about.
Let’s hope he goes bankrupt getting there. So go ahead, Elon, make the MuskPhone!

Unfortunately folks might be too tethered to Twitter, Facebook didn’t get abandoned.
I am scared of the message it sends if Twitter doesn’t become totally irrelevant.
I am full on Twitter delenda est right now.

I saw a musk fan use the term tELONphone and I have to give them some props for the portmanteau.
Recognize other people as human beings rather than tools, with their own thoughts, feelings and desires?

That’s pretty much the definition of “woke”, so, yes, he can’t do that.
Now he’s calling up advertisers so he can yell at them directly. Clearly the work of a brilliant CEO with a clear plan to reach profitability, and not the ravings of a madman who will shortly be spending all day in his pajamas, surrounded by jars of his own piss:
Musk, meanwhile, has sought to personally call chief executives of some brands that have curbed advertising in order to berate them, according to one senior industry figure, leading others to instead reduce their spend to the bare minimum required so as to avoid further confrontation with the billionaire entrepreneur.

The difference would seem to be that Trump realized long ago he was a chump, and so recused himself from actual effort. Still able to fail upward like a champ, to be sure. Musk is learning a hard lesson right now.

If I were the CEO of one of the remaining advertisers I’d stop now too, so Elon would personally berate me. I’d feel like missing the fun otherwise.

I’d stop now just to be able to tell him to take a hike
