What I don’t get is the half-measure.
I fully assumed that since Musk was gonna be reinstating a bunch of virulent neo nazis and homophobes etc. that he was also gonna allow racist and homophobic posts.
But apparently that’s not the case. So what is he doing. Is he just reinstating those people so he can ban them again himself?
What a strange guy.

Because he thinks he’s not far right wing or nazi-ish, the classic “are we the baddies?” cognitive dissonance. His swaths of id that expose his unsavory priors and worldview clash with his moments of getting criticized hard enough to cut through the brain static and backpedaling until things get quiet enough for the id monkey to take the wheel again. Kanye clearly has enough mental problems that he always doubles down, Elon is still working from a place where he believes he is the best of all of us, and thus correct all the time.

As was alluded to earlier in the thread when I had a similar thought, perhaps he was on rails. Hot rails of meth (or whatever).

Not only is he promoting a new round of gibberish about Hunter Biden’s laptop as if it’s the scoop of the century (TLDR: it’s nothing,) he’s branching out to promoting international right wing disinfo by claiming Twitter employees made Bolsonaro lose the Brazilian election.

Seriously. The big scandal is emails from the Biden campaign asking Twitter to remove posts. Nobody is noting what they posts are, but Trump World, and Musk, are suggesting that this amounts to “the Government” ordering Twitter to censor speech. They are conveniently forgetting that Joe Biden was a private citizen at the time, and Donald Trump was the President.
Oh, and the Trump campaign was doing the same thing.
The Hunter Biden part is possibly a little more scandalous for Twitter. It appears that they suppressed the laptop story on pretty shaky grounds, and many senior people internally didn’t understand the reasoning.
They literally enforced their moderation policy by taking down nudes posted without the subject’s consent. SHOCKER!!!

I’m referring to the emails that note that the story was being suppressed due to their “hacking” policy. But no hacking determination had been made.
It’s a stupid story anyway, but of course Trump World wants it to be the next BENGHAZI, so they’ll jump at any opportunity to make it bigger than it is.
I find the Hunter Biden laptop discourse nearly incomprehensible. The original story is that it was a water-damaged Mac airbook left at a computer repair store, but some media stories talk about the data ‘on the laptop’ while other media stories talk about the data ‘on an external hard drive’ and still other media stories about the laptop data actually refer to electronic files provided by third parties for review and publication while still calling that stuff ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop data’. And the guy who had the laptop says he copied it and has been providing stuff to people from it so there is his ‘copy’ in the mix as well, also referred to in media as data from ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop’.
I don’t really doubt that there is a laptop or that it was Hunter Biden’s or that some reported stuff came from the laptop, but after that I don’t really know what to think about it at all. And I don’t think anything really incriminating has ever come out, and I don’t think it matters because Hunter Biden is a private citizen.
My first point of confusion with that story is that I assume more elite folk have access to better/more trustworthy resources for tech work than calling the local geek squad.
If someone has that data the first thing I need to understand is the chain of custody.

Considering there is forensic evidence files were added after it left Hunter’s possession, good luck with that! The whole thing is clown shoes.
