I think he’s a bit desperate to show that the purchase of Twitter was a smart move, and so far that’s not easy. It also limits whatever impact he has as CEO of Tesla on the Tesla stock price. Look what Musk has done with Twitter! Maybe he’s not the genius everyone thought he was, the stock market crowd might be thinking.

It’s probably not good to have other business interests raise doubts about your ability as a steward of Tesla when the EV market is getting more competitive. And his right-wing affliation certainly turns off some of the market. I know I’d stay away from Tesla now, and I’m an EV owner who has a 7 year old EV. I’m ripe for a new one but Tesla is the last manufacturer I’d consider because Musk is an ass who won’t keep his mouth shut.

I can’t tell you who the CEO of Kia or Toyota even is. But Tesla is so strongly associated with Elon the person that I can’t help but associate the Tesla brand with “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci” or whatever else Elon is going on about. Actually repulsed.
