This is one time I would cheer for Musk. If he could stop golden parachutes, CEOs would fail up a lot less.

I mean, he’s basically perpetrating a fraud. Go Elon!

Everything about CEO compensation these days is bullshit but why cheer reneging on contracted agreements? I don’t think executives are the only one he’s going to be eager to fuck over. Quite the contrary.

Everyone else I have sympathy for, but golden parachutes have created some really fucked up incentives for CEOs to tank companies or act in the short-term interest.

It’s a concept that needs to be gotten away with.

I guess my point is Elon isn’t setting out to reform corporate compensation, he’s just reneging on a legal agreement. It comes across to me as cheering a Kanye West (just to pick a random name that’s been in the news for bad behavior recently) racist rant because it was directed at someone you didn’t like.

Again, if Elon is willing to (seemingly) violate contracted terms with people that have money and fancy lawyers, I’m sure he’s more then happy to do it to the little people under his feet.

I can see not having much sympathy that they have fewer swimming pools full of money, it was just the cheering part I don’t understand. That’s okay, though, I don’t expect to see eye to eye with everyone and I’m not saying my way is the right way of thinking. Thanks for taking the time to engage/reply. :)

I don’t think the twitter APIs let someone build a third party client with all the functionality users expect that also lets them simultaneously post their content to another platform. I think years ago there were clients that got shut down that specifically tried to do that.

Nothing wrong with golden parachutes. As long as it’s not a state company, pay the workers as much as you want. Where the state needs to intervene is proper taxation. Most of these people pay little/no taxes through various schemes only accessible to the super rich and that’s where the real problem is. Obviously, nothing will change here in good ol’ , freedom lovin’ Murica any time soon.

Truly he learned his lesson.

You follow and let through the wrong people. Twitter has none of that and is purely a feed of interesting discussions and news from independent designers for me.

Musk sharing a “news story” from a site that claims that Hillary died on 9/11 is … something.

Lol, gotta respect the firing execs for cause.

Get fucked. This is the same shit companies do to line workers all the time. The c suite gets a taste this time.

It is also funny, because it will turn into a long annoying legal battle that will annoy Elon, so. Kind of a win win.

Looking forward to all the reports of liberals putting on tactical gear, grabbing their automatic weapons, and engaging in voter intimidation.

If only one side is doing something, it’s even handed to report that only one side is acting like assholes.

Will it though? They all got package deals of million. I am sure they are ok with it.

… As the link says: “Musk fired the company’s entire senior staff ‘for cause,’ an attempt to avoid paying out tens of millions of dollars in severance packages to the former CEO, CFO, GC and head of legal.” (emphasis added)

Those people are going to almost surely sue Musk, claiming that the “cause” was simply Musk not wanting to fulfill his contractual obligation to pay the severance packages.

I’m not sure you can fire people “for cause” without actually specifying the cause.

“Cause I wanted to.”

Cause they made me follow through with buying this damn company

Ahh ok thanks, I thought the exec’s got golden parachutes, but I have obviously not been keeping up to date on this.

They are supposed to, but this appears to be an attempt to avoid paying out those golden parachutes.
