This is a bad sign. I fully expect to see things turn into a shitshow, and folks slowly melt away now, just from the firehose of filth.
Twitter will just slowly bleed out.

So long as everyone is learning about the demise of Twitter from Twitter posts, I doubt they will be in much trouble. It seems like some people’s entire world at this point, and they don’t see the irony about complaining to your fans about Musks changes from Twitter itself.
Much like Stephen King and Nate Silver protesting about $20 a month. The fact is that they get just as much out of twitter than Twitter gets from them, if not more. A platform where you can effectively share your work with other people and promote your site/books to fans for regular engagement is gold.
The platform can’t die until people leave in droves. I wish I had an account so that I could have deleted it after the musk takeover.
It can if it loses money. Like Twitter has for 14 of the 16 years it has existed.
(Of course, Elon can opt to spend his vast fortune on keeping the money-loser open. Though of course this depends on him not being distracted by some other money pit.)
It’s a good thing they just added $1 billion in annual debt service.

Or until his Saudi backers take control of Twitter.
Yeah, the most likely outcome of all this is Twitter being sold to the Saudis for pennies on the dollar.

Has Trump been let back in yet? I can’t decide whether that would be good news or bad news for the midterms.
That’s the thing about probabilities: luck isn’t inherent to the person. It’s totally independent of them.
The only thing Musk has ever been good at is taking credit for other people’s work.
There may be people about whom this is true, but I think Stephen King is a poor choice for an example. He’s the example of someone so well established in his field, and with such an ardent fan base, that he needs nothing from Twitter when it comes to marketing his work. And it’s not like he’s self-published; there’s an entire publisher marketing team behind his books.
Absolutely. His presence on Twitter adds value to it, not the other way around I’d say. He could never post on Twitter again and it would not impact his bottom line one iota.
Elon: “What if we sell porn?”

This is an interesting prospect, there were a lot of people on Twitter before Onlyfans doing the same kind of thing they are proposing.
There was a crackdown on adult content on the platform a few years ago.
Well, it seems like a good thing for the people worried in this article.
I gotta say, “what if we make money by selling porn on the internet?” is not a particularly innovative idea.
No. Though there’s probably more fundamental reasons behind it beyond than any common sense or respect for the truth on Elon’s part.
First, Trump’s contract with Truth Social requires his (non-fundraising) messages appear exclusively there for six hours before he puts them on another social media platform. So Twitter would be getting stale Tweets if Trump returned, as well as indirectly promoting a competitor (as Truth Social would surely use the opportunity to yell “See Trump’s Tweets earlier on the real right-wing social media platform!”)
Second, given everything we know about Trump, he’s probably demanding to be paid to return to Twitter. And with cash, not worthless Twitter stock. Compared to the usual Trump grift targets - people who barely make rent - Elon’s an easy mark: he’s dripping with money, and desperate for Trump’s attention.
So there’s gonna be some wrangling over the price before Trump returns.
