Hey GUYZ!! GUYZ!!

I expected there to be some source, but it is just the usual bullshit. Not that anyone with a brain would be surprised by that exclusivity, I have no doubt Epic will pay T2 dozens millions fortnite bucks to secure it.

Glad I got it for my PS4. :)

Me too, but I am waiting desperately for the PC version because I want to replay it, but not again at 30fps without mods and with worse graphics.

Epic exclusivity would piss me off, because at the very least, I want a god damn playtime tracking and family sharing.

Well then, I suggest that you start preparing your body because this is totally a thing that’s happening.

If you know this with certainty, is it permanent or timed?

I heard it’s not just permanent. It’s retroactive. All your current Rockstar games on Steam will migrate to an EGS account.

Boo!

Nothing would surprise me coming from Epic, at this point.

Then you are easily swayed.

What people are hearing:

‘EGS exclusive! It’s the end of the world’

What is being missed:
‘RDR2 to PC? Cool!’

If there is anyone that needs Minimum Sales Guarantees and upfront cash payouts it’s Rockstar and Take Two Interactive.

Wait, you’re saying that’s real news? I thought Derek was joking/extrapolating-based-on-2K-behavior-in-the-past.

No idea. But I found it funny, and telling, that the immediate reaction from some was to ignore the RDR2 to PC but for the EGS exclusive but.

I’d say that the story is well within the realms of the plausible. No idea if Derek is right. Just that it wouldn’t shock me in the least.

I thought he was just trying to promote his twitter account. Again.

I think the opposite is true. People will go wherever they have to for Rockstar games and Take Two can look at the math to see how much more they would have made with an 88% split compared to Steam’s sliding 70-80% scale.

At least their core audience who don’t own a console will. Steam probably still kills Epic on sales at this point. It’s going to take awhile for Epic to catch up, no matter how great they are.

I absolutely agree with you. If the Red Dead Redemption 2 rumor is true I would bet all the Fortnite money in the world Take Two and Rockstar are getting a payout from Epic for exclusivity because they will argue they are leaving money on the table by not going with Steam. I just find it frustrating since as much as I disagree with Snapshot’s decision, it’s mid-tier or smaller developers that would better benefit from the extra cash.

Of course it’s all rumors at this point so we have to see how this goes.

It would’ve worked better if it were announced before being a console exclusive for this long, it sold a lot of consoles by now.
From a distant perspective, which is the only sane thing to do, the PC platform war sure is interesting.

At least one site is saying it is a hoax:

The leak apparently revealed the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2’s as-of-yet unannounced and unconfirmed PC port. Based on a leak from 4chan - which, really, should have been clear enough indication that this is a hoax - the PC port was to be announced on the 22nd of April at 9 AM PST. The game would then be launched as an Epic Game Store exclusive on the 9th of July.

In a rather bizarre move of self-outing however, the same leaker then went on to claim that Super Mario Odyssey would also be coming to PC via the Epic Games Store. Given that Nintendo has not released any of its first-party games to PC full-stop, this seems like a case of one “leak” too far and we are calling any and all claims by this person fake.

But that one might be legit?

Is there anyone not expecting Rockstar to space out a PC and a next gen console release for RDR2 to get as many sucker customers to triple dip as possible, much like they did with GTA5?
