Is there gifting?

Cmon now, you are asking for customer friendly features.

Yeah, wishlists are great. I have about 35 items on my Steam wishlist. It’s super useful when someone tells me about a new game, I can just put it in my wishlist and keep track of it and get notified when a sale pops up.

Early 2020*

*Maybe

Nope. But I am pretty sure I saw it mentioned on their Trello.

That’s really funny. My dad has an eshop full of stupid ebooks and even his store has a shopping cart, which took him very little time to set up and he isn’t in IT.

The Amazon Kindle shop doesn’t, though. Funny, that. Weird thing to be hung up on, especially for people like @KevinC, since he’s emphatically only buying a single game…

Yeah, I frankly don’t get it. My suspicion is it has to do with minimizing customer service demands and by introducing any complications into the purchase process, they’re worried unforeseen bugs could arise. My snarky belief, on the other hand, is they’re secretly designing the store in a way to hide how many games they have in their catalog ;)

How do you figure I’m hung up on it? The “they do have a shopping cart now?” comment was a joke calling back to the EGS launch, as I assumed by this point they’d have that feature. I was a little surprsied they still didn’t. They’re getting cloud saves, though, which IMO is a bigger deal.

Anyway, why are you so touchy about EGS? You seem to get really defensive about it. Do you or someone you know work on it?

There is a lot of general anger towards Epic, and to people that have used the store. As if there is something fundementally wrong with us for even considering Epic as a legitimate store front.

I am sure it puts a lot of us on edge, as we assume that every comment, no matter how seemingly innocent, might be a dig at the store or the people that use.

I guess we could all chill a bit. Even if the other guy started it ;)

This is true

This caused me to sprain my eyeballs rolling them.

Hey, if you don’t think that is true, check out Granath, and his comments about paid shills in the Ooblets thread.

l

Let’s face it, the anti epic crowd is being represented by people shouting profanity and making death threats against developers. It’s not a good crowd to be a associated with, or a good crowd to be targeted by.

What a bunch of claptrap your last two posts were.

Something no one ever here has said. Next.

The easiest way to demonstrate the fallacy of guilt by association is to change a couple of words in that sentence and see how it works. Let’s face it, the Muslim crowd is being represented by people shouting profanity and making death threats. It’s not a good crowd to be associated with. That no longer seems reasonable now, does it? There are 4500 posts in this thread and there are probably 1000 that explain why people do not like the Epic store. There has not been one death threat in any of those posts. Your efforts to associate those here who explained their distaste for the business tactics of the Epic store with a scant few Internet Idiots who make death threats is a bit insulting. Next.

Finally something we agree on. Considering the hateful, swearing PM you sent me last night on this very issue I hope you follow your own advice.

I just asked you to be less of an asshole. It was an honest request that I thought was best done through a PM rather then through the public forum.

As for your rebuttals, when you claim that everyone that defends Epic is a paid shills, that kind of attacks the legitimacy of the store, as if to say that only people paid or actively defend it.

As for the crowds you run with, do you think that death threats are the proper way to express anger of a developer going to the Epic Platform?

Point to where I said that everyone that defends Epic are paid shills. There are dozens of people who defend the Epic store. I believe only a couple of them have a monetary interest in it. So go find a comment where I said everyone who defends Epic is a paid shill. I will wait.

Also, please show were the crowds I run with are making death threats? Since this is the crowd I run with, please seek through this thread and find a death threat. Again, I will wait.

As you make fake assertion after fake assertion the only thing you do is prove that you should step away from the keyboard for a while.

Would this suffice? I mean, it could be fake, but I doubt it.

Or this?

Or this

Take your pick. This was the discussion that we were having.

That shows nothing as it relates to me.

See, that is your problem. You have demonized anyone who as the temerity to disagree with you and lumped them all together. That is your problem and not mine.

I’m fairly sure Granath was referring to me as the ‘shill’, since AFAIK I was the only person in that thread with a game on the store.

Although I’m not sure how that was relevant to my assertions that being awful to people should be roundly condemned, and that tutting over the phrasing of a post in the face of that seemed like the wrong focus. Especially since it wasn’t my phrasing or my game.

Maybe he didn’t mean me, but if so that reinforces my point that even the simplest statements are not going to be seen the same way by everyone, no matter how folks seem to think ‘if they had simply said this, then…’

I owe you an apology because I did mean you at the time and I was annoyed. So I apologize.

Your opinion is both more suspect and more educated than the rest of us. Suspect because your opinion may be influenced considering the Epic is paying you. More educated than the rest of us because you are the only one who is actually signing contracts with Epic and Steam and have more knowledge than the rest of us.

I appreciate the apology. Thank you.

My statements in that thread have little to nothing to do with business, and are really entirely focused on online discourse - which I truly wish we could improve. I personally think part of that is more roundly denouncing the sort of awful stuff happening to those devs without qualifications that give trolls some whiff of justification, which is what I’m generally trying to articulate.

If you still think that after Travis’ long participation on this forum and his openness when talking to us, you need to take a look at that plank in your own eye.

What he tried to bring to that thread was a bit of sanity. The reaction to the announcement, as he said, is NOT the cost of doing business and shouldn’t be expected. That level of abuse was uncalled for, no argument needed.

And your paid shill comment was uncalled for and condescending.
