I’m aware of that rule but really don’t feel that’s what happened here, stusser. We get to know one another in different areas of discussion on the forum. I don’t see the harm in saying, “Wait a minute, I know you and I think you should know better than this.”

She obviously felt differently, so best not to stir up the pool. When it’s full of turds. Which P&R is. Nothing but turds.
Heh, well, my point was that she’s not a turd in P&R. So maybe don’t repeatedly call the guy suffering death threats and anti-semitic hoaxes an ass.
First, I don’t think you debunked anything.
Clearly, I was called a shill. Obviously, he walked it back some, but walking it back is not the same as not having said it.
As to your other comments, yes I think it’s surprising and unexpected. This wasn’t some one waling around causing trouble or trying to get a rise out of people. It was just a blog post announcement with a bit of humor. Nothing said justified any of the words or attacks at the developer.
We know you are completely unable to acknowledge the problems people have with it, so it’s not a surprise you don’t think it was condescending.
Of course, the only reasonable thing to do about this subject is to move on and care about real problems, like climate change and the last season of Game of Thrones, so… shrug

People feel really strongly about the epic store. I don’t get it either. I just shrug and accept it as one of those things I’ll never understand, like watching sports.
I actually didn’t watch game of thrones.
I just didn’t want to. I had a hard enough time with the first couple books.
But we should definitely get together and talk about climate change. That’s pretty pressing.

Since it didn’t get through the first however many times people have responded and told you this, I’ll give it another shot:
No one here is justifying the attacks.

I think our emotional compass can’t differentiate between gradations. For example, I strongly dislike Epic myself, and when I ‘measure’ how I feel about it, it’s quite a strong reaction. This is about my favorite hobby, after all. However, I then have to go back and ‘modify’ my reaction. It helps that I’m dealing with other things in my life, like children and work – it helps me keep things in perspective of what’s important and what isn’t. So even though I really don’t like Epic’s store, after modification, it’s a fairly small reaction at this point. I think that post-modification isn’t easy to do though.
Okay, then why say anything at all? Why did you feel obligated to say this was expected?
I don’t get that. If it’s bad, then it’s bad. You don’t need to explain it away.
That’s party my fault. I am pretty passionate about it because I keep hearing how screwed up the working conditions are in the gaming industry, and I just want to do something. I feel like giving the developers a bigger piece of the pie is something.
Then again, Epic treats it’s fornite staff badly, but I don’t play fornite. I don’t give any money to that side of the company, and the smaller that piece of the pie is, the better.
Also, having the workers unionize would be great.

Rile up as in arguing over something, welcome to the human race. Riled up as sending death threats faking posts, and rallying groups to attack people on Social Media. I’ve never done any of that. It’s not the same group nor is it all gamers doing that. I mean arguing over DRM, always online, Project 10, Microtran, RealName, anything EA or microsoft… the arguing isn’t that new at all.
Dishonest arguments? Excuse me? Everyone who disagrees with you is a liar? Is that it? Or I’m a shill, right?
I can’t possibly honestly disagree with idea that Epic has done anything wrong and zealously argue that point without being guilty of some form of malfeasance? Is that where we’re at?
I mean, I have issues with the store and company as it is right now, but I can just not use it (which is easy, because it would be work to do it). What I don’t like is constantly being told my issues don’t matter and I should be a good little consumer and suck it up (that works great on a socialist, by the way. Not that it should work for someone who believes in rational markets either, but I digress).
We aren’t reddit, or 4chan or whatever, I don’t know why we have to refute their arguments to make a point about being weary, even if the line might be crossed a little.
Maybe they will be a force for good change, can I just be a little skeptical, just as I was about Valve and GoG for years? Especially if they’re going to mess with kickstarter projects and native Linux ports.
If you don’t think funding the breaking of kickstarter promises (including porting to an OS without EGS) is ethically problematic, then there isn’t much of a common base for discussion.
Yeah, yours is a series problem that is held by a small group of people.
I am sorry that your issue doesn’t feel like it’s being acknowledged. It’s pretty rough, being a Linux user, and the store not supporting Linux.
I had thought the issue would resolve itself on the Linux end. Isn’t there some awesome software that allows you to run windows games and programs on Linux?
There is much more I have to offer. Thoughts and prayers perhaps?

Thank you for making my point for me. This is a dishonest argument. I never called you a shill, or said everyone who disagrees is a liar.
I have, repeatedly, seen gross misrepresentation, dismissal of valid concerns, and weird attacks on Steam as a means of championing EGS. I have also seen valid discussion about what people like about EGS or why they use it. You like EGS, cool. I have reservations about it.
But there’s a reason I ducked out of the thread, and disingenuous confabulation like your post are why. Note I didn’t call out @stusser, despite him being broadly pro EGS and ambivalent (at best) to the points of those concerned with Epic. That’s because, though our positions do not meet, he hasn’t gone beyond disagreement with a need to misrepresent.
Oh man, so many updates, Epic must have release an awesome new free game or… oh
Heh, native support is hard to come by, but it’s fine, Wine generally works by the time I get around to it. It saves me money too if I have to wait.
But that’s one minor feature cut to fit the store, although it doesn’t help that it’s not the only reason porting promises are being dropped. And I’m not to enthused about supporting a gambling company either.
I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that when you called me and legowarrior liars it was actually you who were the real victim.
