Cue up the infamous “BOYCOTT COD:MW2” Steam group showing everybody in it playing COD:MW2.
That’s ok, Epic will add a total player count just after Star Citizen comes out.
I feel Star Citizen should be an Epic exclusive.
Yep, no doubt they could use the development money, and then stretch the release out longer with another engine change over to Unreal Engine 4.
Yeah, but Epic might require their partners to actually launch their games.

That would be a mistake. SC will always make far more money selling dreams before it becomes something real and fades away. Epic should sponsor CIG so they can endlessly expand their ‘vision’, then cash a percentage of those $27,000 ship sales.

Finally something both those in favor of EGS, and wary/ opposed to EGS can agree on.
Bashing Star Citizen
heh - the Start Citizen chatter is a nice reprieve from the venom so prevalent in this thread.
No joke, this thread is probably my least favorite on this Games forum, ever. Between Reddit and the inappropriate comments here, I have lost some faith in humanity, or at least gaming/gamers.
Here’s some positive EGS news.
https://www.rocketleague.com/news/crates-leaving-rocket-league-later-this-year/
Here at Psyonix, and Epic Games as a whole, we are dedicated to creating the best possible experience for our players all over the world. In pursuit of that goal, later this year we will remove all paid, randomized Crates from Rocket League , replacing them with a system that shows the exact items you’re buying in advance. This is similar to changes implemented earlier this year by the Fortnite Save the World team.

They really don’t have any choice; loot crates are widely seen as gambling and either they self-regulate or various governments will do it for them.
I think in Rocket League’s case it’s at least partially based on the fact that they’re making more money off of Rocket Pass than they are for the crates anyway. Win-win.
I just read the twitter feed! Man, there are so many assholes on the thread. Just so many!
And it’s all the same bullshit. It’s so fucked up.
And I fear if I type any more about how I feel, it will start the conversation all over again.

I don’t usually do the FTFY thing, but I felt it was too appropriate here. :)
You are correct.
It was such a nice idea though. Why do people have always go negative ?

I have absolutely no clue. It’s a sea of assholes out there.
You all do this. But you know in your heart that when EGS gives out free Star Citizen Jpegs, you’ll add them to the cart add them to your library immediately!
I think this is well said.
The hatefulness of this behavior drowns out and invalidates any sort of criticism these people were hoping levy at the subject of their dissatisfaction in the first place, and makes us as a community of gamers look toxic and entitled as fuck. You’d think that this wouldn’t need to be said over and over again, but, whelp.
The problem with this, is that internet is (still) an open platform open to, among other things:
- psychopaths
- sociopaths
- murderers
- mysoginists
- terrorists
- edgy teenagers
You get the idea. Of course nobody sane, mature and reasonable will send death threats. Not to developers, nor anyone else.
But if anyone thinks that appeals like this will actually influence the people who DO send them NOT to send them, I have a bridge to sell you.
(still, I appreciate the sentiment, even if I am sceptical about its effectiveness)
