It’s funny. With that 10 dollar coupon I was tempted to buy Observation. And so I click buy…and realized it is too cheap now (12.5 USD) so the coupon does not apply. If it was 15 USD, it would apply.
Is Dvision 2 worth playing solo? I would give Division 1 about 6/10 (played solo only the “story”). It is 5 bucks, with the coupon, but I do not want to waste time.
Yeah, it’s a shame that Observation isn’t 14.99 so that the coupon could apply.
I enjoyed division 2 , solo 90% of the time, I did do a few of the bigger missions with randoms and it was ok!
Thanks. Would you say you liked it better than first (if you played)? Any comparison when it comes to story/writing/mission design/level design?
D1 had a better setting (NYC @ Christmas) and story (what caused the virus) imho. D2 has better gun gameplay and the world feels more alive, missions are a bit more fun.
D1 had better city exploration and quarantine zones.

I’d agree with that assessment and add that the gear is more interesting in the sequel as well - manufacturer sets add some meaningful choices as you work your way up the gear ladder.
On the whole I still prefer the first game though; I thought the setting was that good and much preferred desolate winter to overgrown summer. Plus Underground and Survival were excellent modes that haven’t be reproduced in the second (yet).
Thanks guys. Hmmm. Still not sure if I should pick it up. It is cheap, but cheap is still unnecessary if I don’t actually play it. I had to force myself to finish D1 so I am not super thrilled about doing the same with D2.
For those who haven’t noticed there’s 12 different free games (one per day) on the Holiday Sale page:
Come back to the store every day for a new FREE game from December 19, 2019 at 11am EST until January 1, 2020 at 11am EST. Each new FREE game is only available for that day, so don’t miss it. Fun fact! You can claim the daily free game(s) on your phone by opening up the Epic Games Store on a browser.
Into the Breach is the free game today December 19. I already own it on GOG so it would make me feel a little sleazy claiming it here.

I’m sure the devs get paid something for the giveaways, you’re just funneling some filthy Fortnite lucre their way. Click the button, you know you want to.
Finally got me to create an account. Picked up Rune 2 for $12.49 (on sale plus $10 coupon) - I figure even with the drama, I’ll bite at that price, if only to support the development and check it out - I loved the first enough.
To echo stusser’s sentiments: you aren’t hurting anyone by claiming a free game; owning a title on multiple platforms has advantages. You know you want to.
I think Into the Breach was one of the top 5 games by vote at Qt3 the year it came out. (was that 2018?) I definitely wanted to try it once my moritoriam on strategy games is over in 2025.
EDIT: I was close, it was the Number 6 game of 2018 at Qt3.

It’s actually one of the few games I’ve really wanted to play that I haven’t bought so I appreciate getting it for free. FTL was great and while this is different, it’s clear these guys make really solid games.
I forgot Battletech won first place, and now its like never talked about anymore.
Into the Breach is an excellent game. The late game just almost tips over into the too stressful type of game for me because the stakes feel even higher than FTL.
Anyways I caved again like I mostly do for free games. At least I’m a momentarily content nerdy mark instead of a grumpy one :)

I have to say from usability standpoint, EGS is still freaking terrible.
Just the stuff needed to get to actual sale:
- Start EGS
- Now on the homepage, I have to scroll down a whole page to see the HOLIDAY SALE banner, so I click it
- Article opens, and in its text is a hyperlink text “holiday sale page”, click that
- Now I am on a page with the coupon and still no games anywhere, now I have to find another tiny hyperlink “Click here to see the sales”
This is so dumb.
Granted, instead of navigating from “home” I can go to “store”, but then it lists all games and not just the ones on sale. If I want to see the ones on sale only, I still have to go to the page with the coupons and find the hyperlink there I guess?

This is what I see when I go to epicgames.com. What are you doing differently that is causing you all this scrolling and clicking?
yeah, if you are on the webpage then you get what Dave posted right away. If you are using the app, then you click on store and you get the exact same thing that Dave posted for the web page. If you want to see all the sale games then you click “view more” on the “games on sale” row.
It doesn’t seem any more challenging then steam really.
It’s incredible. The expansions they’ve released are great.
