He could at least have streaked…

If England gets the winner, feels like it almost surely be from an indirect freekick or corner.

That might be true for Italy as well. England has not conceeded a goal from open play all tournament.

Chiellini with an ultra-professional freekick.

Edit: Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if that kind of stuff (holding the shirt) resulted in straight up yellow every time, and a red one for blatant professional ones like that.

Extra football.

Stupid from Chiellini, should have just knocked it out of play

Agreed.

That was some next level bullshit.

England starting to show some life.

A bit of an unlucky break from the corner after a quality save from Pickford but Italy thoroughly deserved their equaliser and probably deserved to win it.

We have more space when we have the ball after the change to 4-3-3 but it’s much harder to win the ball back.

Both centre halves booked for Italy and that might yet prove crucial…

Yeah he could have easily gotten himself a red for that, I’ve seen them given for less

And we’re back…

Andrea Belotti looks like an Easter Island statue in football boots.

Or like a gargoyle, as my gf says.

Also, I was expecting more changes for England.

Nice pick and roll there…

That was a bit more positive.

Have to wonder why Grealish hasn’t found his way onto the pitch. Or Sancho.

Jordan Henderson hasn’t really been a sparking presence since replacing an exhausted Rice.

Sterling has reverted to Man City Sterling

So this is why I don’t see Southgate as a genius tactically, despite the opening formation being great.

  1. Switched to a defensive mindset far too early. No matter how good your defense is, it’s almost impossible to defend for such a long time against such a good team as Italy is.
  2. Way too conservative with his substitutions. You have by far the broadest bench in the Euros - fantastic players all around. But it’s not being used.

Edit: Way past time for Mount to leave the pitch. He was good in the beginning, but he’s been invisible for much of the past 30-40 minutes.

Grealish coming on, hopefully he doesn’t get subbed off again like last time against the Danes

As bad as Immobile was I think Belotti has been worse. An extremely limited player.

England playing with a bit more verve now.

I second the thoughts on the substitutes. If not now then when?
