I don’t get this either since he wasn’t playing especially well prior to that. That coupled with his age made it an odd choice on Southgate’s part.
Credit to Maguire for taking the kick (and executing it well)… cowardly behavior from Stones, Sterling, etc. Even if they have the chance to become the villains, this is the moment they should have stepped forward, and not left the decisive shot to teenagers.
