EZ pad needed to play Robin Hood DOTC demo?

I got it on fileplane.
First, the installer had me log on to fileplanet to get an activation key.
Then, it wanted to install this EZ pad something for verification purposes
or something. I wouldn’t have it and the demo won’t work. Is this some
kind of spyware or is it legit?

I’ve got to say that checking out demos is becoming quite a nuisance.

EZPad is this horrible system used to protect review copies of games against evil journalists. It stops you playing the game after a certain length of time, forces you to access the Internet to start it up each time and is frankly a total pain in the arse. If they’re using it to protect demos then I can only assume that somebody has gone actually, literally mad.

Yes, this is very stupid. And here I was thinking that a demo was supposed to convince me to buy the game - not to annoy me.
I guess no Robin Hood for me.

Is it a real demo or the full game and they’re using EZPad to turn it into a demo by limiting the time you can play it?

Haven’t downloaded it myself, but its page on FP doesn’t say anything about unlocking it.

Given the reviews of this game–uniformly horrid, essentially–I’m wondering why someone would want to protect the demo…

I guess it has something to do with exclusivness for fileplanet. If so then this is really dumb. Or mayby they want to hide the shame.
