Evan “Mormon Dreamboat” McMullin received 21.5% of the vote as an independent. The breakdown was thus:

Trump: 45.54%
Clinton: 27.46%
McMullin: 21.54%

It really can’t be understated how effective and pervasive right-wing propaganda is. I speak to a lot of people who think Trump isn’t a good person or is an idiot, but they truly do think that we’re being invaded and that Democrats want to welcome to invasion as a means of obtaining illegal votes and power. So I hear a lot of “Ugh, yeah, Trump. But at least he’s doing something about the crisis, we can’t just have open borders and millions of people streaming into the country every year, the whole system will collapse”.

Of course, there’s also a very sizable Trump personality cult here. I have no idea how they square that with their religious beliefs, but that’s nothing new.

I used to think so, too. I’m not so sure anymore. If the descriptions in Double Down are anywhere close to accurate, that’s a big problem.

Put another way. He tried to be a candidate. He lost, badly, to Mitt Romney. Mitt’s common-man touch and raw charisma overwhelmed the field, apparently.

I wonder if that El Paso shooter went to Trump’s rally there?

Good question.

Doubtful. I believe the shooter is from Dallas, and just went down to El Paso to kill people.

OMG hahaha

I realize it’s only 0.6%, but how the hell does even one single person more actually approve of Trump now versus one year ago? Is the margin of racist on that poll 0.6%?

A lot of people don’t pay much attention to politics, and just shit in general. They tune it out. I work with a lot of those type people.

The Emperor’s new clothes are Amazing! Rock Star! If you can’t trust the “Assistant to President and Director of White House Social Media” then who can you?

I wouldn’t put that much confidence in those numbers, they are a pretty heavily massaged average of a lot of polls of various quality. Despite listing a decimal place they aren’t that accurate.

They just didn’t kiss DJT’s ample ass quite enough. That’s all it’s about. That’s all it’s ever about.

What’s interesting is that Scavino is often Trump on social media - i.e. Scavino is “the intern” who writes Trump tweets when Donnie is too grumpy or can’t spell the big words. So why use his own account for this?

Clearly someone feels that not enough butt was kissed … but Scavino is smart enough to know that putting those words in Donnie’s mouth would play even worse.

This is Scavino and the Trump Administration gaslighting as usual. Dayton is just up I-75 from me, so our local news has had extensive coverage of the shooting there and the events that followed, including Trump’s visit yesterday. Many times yesterday I saw footage of Trump at the hospital. Nobody treated him poorly, but it’s not like they lined the halls and cheered or slow-clapped him in or anything.

Brown’s comments were favorable to the President, complimenting him and Melania for coming and being a comforting presence. Mayor Nan Whaley didn’t really compliment Trump, but she didn’t criticize yesterday either. She basically just stated that the business owners in the Oregon District (the entertainment district where the shooting happened) appreciated that the President did not try to visit there, as they did not think they were ready yet for such an event.

But of course Donnie and Scavino are pissed because a visit to a hospital to comfort shooting victims and grieving families wasn’t all about how awesome Trump is. Fucking soulless imbeciles.

That’s really it, isn’t it? They expected lavish praise and instead got some positive comments, but no gushing.
