Could it be a site of little comparative importance, and/or using imaging tech that pretty much everyone else has already? I can’t believe anyone would share the really important stuff with him by now. I think that may be one of the reasons he apparently believes the F-35 is literally invisible. He asked to see one in person, and the quick thinking air force general said “Sure…it’s, uh…right over there. You can’t see it because um…the stealth flux capacitor is recharging, and uhhh…it’s very important not to get close or disrupt it, else the radiation may make you a black!”

Eight years ago the National Reconnaissance Office gave NASA two telescopes with 2.4 meter wide mirrors (same size as Hubble but more advanced design) presumably because the NRO had something better to use.

It probably depends on the age of the keyhole satellite that took it, but how many countries do you think have the capability to basically put a Hubble in space and point it at the earth? Looking at wikipedia the suspected keyhole was put into orbit in 2011, and is a block 4 system so not the latest, the first of which was put up in January.

Related to the satellite image Trump released: I would be shocked if the important (Russian, Chinese, Israeli) foreign governments didn’t know our exact capabilities, just as we know their capabilities. As part of my job I have to take periodic counterintelligence training and every time we hear about people arrested on a weekly basis for giving classified material to the bad guys. I’m sure a percentage of those are analysts providing imagery. I’ve also worked at the NRO, NGA, and DIA and I can assure you there are shenanigans that can and do place in space whereby other countries can intercept transmissions and gain intel on our capabilities. As for giving away the purpose of some satellite? Bah! Just as the US can look at a Chinese satellite and know what its purpose is (in a general sense), the Chinese can look at our satellites and know what ours are doing. And I bet they know every single commercial part that is contained in that satellite. Don’t think we ever fool people by pretending to launch a satellite for commercial purposes while secretly using it for classified work (and if the NRO launches it, well, it’s for classified use, duh!). Everyone knows (or can figure it out). So while I agree it’s a terrible gaffe he committed (as usual) I don’t think he gave away any heretofore unknown secret information.
But how would it be different from the other half-dozen “Trump’s White House is insane” books that have already been published? It’s practically a literary genre at this point.
