I think this investigation may hurt her Presidential ambition.

I really wonder after reading that FEC piece, how complicit the NRA was in accepting so many foreign contributions and then directing it towards candidates / etc.

The NRA really was a Russian tool this past election and it’s been burried in all the other news on Trump et al, but damn, they need to be held accountable.

Hey, if the crowd doesn’t like your new stuff, you go with the golden oldies!

“U.S.”

Yeah, that seems to be seriously awkward phrasing; a “stop hitting yourself” gif might almost be appropriate. The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Manhattan is joining.

Barr needs to be removed from office. He can be DJT’s campaign manager as a private citizen. If he stays out of prison.

It’s crazy how impossible to reach that ~35% is. Despite everything in the news, Donald Trump has done nothing wrong according to these people. It’s the Democrats who are trying to overthrow democracy by staging a coup. A fucking coup, despite the fact that a Republican will still be president. Despite the fact that it’s their constitutional authority and responsibility to do so.

These people also believe that climate change is a hoax, that “science is still out” on whether it’s happening, that there’s real disagreement in the scientific community if humans are impacting the climate, that Greta is either hellspawn or being manipulated by Democrats wanting to take away our freedom (???). These people also believe that the greatest crisis facing America right now is immigrants coming into the country.

Yes, I’ve been reading local media and talking to people around here. It’s bewildering and frustrating, coming from someone who used to have spirited debates with Republican friends and coworkers back in the 90’s. It’s horrifying watching brainwashing in action, I don’t even know how to talk to these people anymore because they live in a completely separate reality than I do.

Well in that 35% are the people that are only happy so long as someone tells them they are above someone else, you know, certain groups. No one has given them a louder voice for that than Trump, and they’re not going to find it with any of the current Democratic candidates, and they know that.

PLOT TWIST- SDNY will switch sides mid-hearing and oppose Trump.

“By God, that’s Preet Bharara’s music!”

That plays right into Trump’s hands. If there’s one thing his administration understands, it’s pro wrestling.

It’s not that weird when you realize that there’s a portion of the population who is just incredibly dumb. Take almost any insane belief, like ghosts, or magic etc… The percentage of the population that believes it is much larger than it should be.

And apparently getting larger over the last decade or so:

I have read many times that polls show that 50% of Americans believe in straight up demons and angels. That walk among us and influence us. Not an analogy, actual entities. So yeah.

There are angels in the Bible, so it doesn’t surprise me that many believe in them.

As someone who believes in neither, I feel like belief in Yahweh and belief in Yahweh’s angels don’t seem all that different. I think a good deal of what feels “rational” is culturally determined and partly based on the social pressure not to appear weird around one’s neighbors. That’s not to say that rationalism itself is culturally determined… you can make arguments with logic and evidence. But the feeling of, “hey, yeah, that’s a normal thing to believe” is hard to tease out from the social environment.

Well you can’t really believe in God and not believe in Satan. You can’t believe in God’s angels and not acknowledge demons/evil. What you do with that belief is wholly different. It’s the same with say reading the bible but then go around trying to use the Bible to keep slaves. Religion is not insanity. Even if someone doesn’t share the belief, doesn’t make the entire belief system irrational. Religion doesn’t make someone dumb either, and there are plenty of religious individuals in science, health… a variety of fact finding/based roles.

I realize many Trump supporters wield their religion like a weapon, but the problem is not the religion; let’s not try and link that.

Well actually…
