Excellent - if troubling - analysis. Waiting for the adults in the White House to prevent this latest foreign affairs disaster.
As has been mentioned earlier, it will take decades for the USA’s international standing to recover from Trump - if it is even possible. Trump has shown that there is - quite literally - no reason why any other country should trust & deal with the US government in good faith, given that even the most sensitive and carefully negotiated agreements can be overturned by a future administration on the whims of the sitting President.

So what is Turkey giving Trump for this? After the Ukraine memo, I can imagine how this decision was reached.
Montagnards, Karen’s, Hmong, Basras Shiites etc: "More fool the Kurds for thinking the US are the good guys and won’t betray them. Next time pick up a history book. "
Meanwhile, in Manhattan, this just got interesting.
(Lawyers for the DOJ had represented to the judge that if no ruling on their motion was presented by 9am this morning, they would assume the judge was denying the district attorney’s attempt to get those tax returns. The judge issued this ruling this morning at 8:55 am. Never give a judge an ultimatum.)
This judge’s ruling looks like a double-defeat for Trump. Not only did the judge reject the motion that Trump didn’t have to turn over those tax returns (or more accurately, rule that the DOJ/SDNY’s assertion that Trump’s old accountancy firm didn’t have to turn them over), but the judge also rejected a motion that this case should be tried in a Federal, not district court.
Also, the agreement to allow Turkey to invade Northern Syria appears to be the bridge too far that even Lindsay Graham wouldn’t cross. Move appears to have caught him – like the Pentagon and pretty much everyone else – completely off guard.
Even Fox n Friends pretty stridently came out against it.
I’m sure Lindsey will have a Come to Trump moment this afternoon and be back to his usual job of cleaning the White House floor with his tongue.
Lindsay will definitely have some moment involving Trump and come.
Put that lickspittle piece of shit in a gimp suit
No…what…why would you put this image in my head? Lalala I didn’t see this.

This is why Presidents need to divest themselves of any financial interests when taking office. Not just for the potential leverage it gives others or the conflicts of interests, but the appearance of conflict of interest is enough to be damaging to a President’s agenda. Trump, obviously, gets 0 benefit of the doubt and my list of potential reasons is close to Krugman’s:
- Erdogan is giving him something and this is Trumps side of the bargain.
- Erdogan threatened his business interests in Turkey and this is Trump caving.
- Putin gave instructions.
Nik, that’s not how you get on the ticket for 2020…
If you’re taking bets, put me down for this one
Just the ‘biggest’ lie, though, right Lindsey?
