Completely true, yeah. Also, Trump just played his cards by completely giving Turkey what it wanted on a platter, then fired of a craptastic letter trying to renege. I’m sure Ergodan doesn’t give a shit based on how easily Trump has been manipulated so far.
Yeah, what is Trump going to do? Erdogan is a strongman who won’t mind his people suffering a bit if it gets him what he wants. And he has the two Trump Towers. Trump pushes too hard he can seize them. He knows Trump will wimp out. After all, in Trump’s stupid brain it’s just them all playing over “sand.”
BBC reports that Erdogan straight-up threw Combover Caligua’s letter in the trash.
Oh to be a fly on the wall when that happened.
“Najis!”

I don’t think it’s a small minority. I’d guess around half weren’t happy with the previous westernizing direction.

My very limited and poor understanding is that the rural Turks are fundamentalist and support Erdogan while the urban people are more progressive.
Nah, that’s the US you are talking about. Oh, and Trump, not Erdogan.

“It’s all tax-deductible. We’re fairly incorruptible. Sailing on the wide accountancy!”
Loved the B movies of Monty Python. My father would have loved this, being a lowly accountant for the majority of his life until heading off on his own to become a tax accountant.

Daily Mail saying Rick Perry is stepping down. This true?

NYT reporting it as fact. Although it doesn’t say when he’s leaving, just “expected soon”.

Related to him being indicted last week?
Maybe he wants to be free to speak truthfully?
What exactly does the NYT article say? (I’m out of articles for the month and I’m not subscribing.) Does it quote Perry directly saying he’s stepping down, or does it quote “people close to him,” “sources familiar with his thinking” etc.?
The Trump admin has used the second approach in the past to have underlings stuff words into the mouths of people they’re trying to kick out. E.g. Rod Rosenstein on at least a couple of occasions. And they apparently did the same to Perry in the first wave of “Perry is out” stories earlier in the month.

Rick Perry, the energy secretary who has drawn scrutiny for his role in the controversy surrounding President Trump’s efforts to push Ukraine officials to investigate the son of a political rival, on Thursday told the president he would resign from the cabinet.
Simply states it as a fact.
I need a quote from the body of the article that gives some sort of source.

There isn’t one.
CNN says “two administration officials”.
As always, believe it when it comes directly from the mouth of the person who’s resigning.
(I’m sure Perry will resign, mind you: he’d be foolish not to. But the distinction of whether he jumped or was pushed is crucial when it comes to interpreting the meaning of these bus-icides.)

You know what else would be foolish? Accepting a job as head of a department you forgot you wanted to eliminate during a presidential debate, then increasing the budget of that department by 25%.
Never underestimate Rick Perry’s foolishness!
I’m totally fine with Mulvaney going to prison.
January 20th, 2021 (at the absolute latest) cannot come soon enough.
