Another gray eminence seeks a place in the emperor’s court.

President Trump’s new pick for the Commission on Presidential Scholars "is a prolific author of self-help Illuminati books whose education company has been accused of handing out certificates to undeserving applicants.” https://t.co/OosfyBGAro

Here’s an idea with broad popular support:

Seriously, Democrats should campaign on only this issue.

“Hey guys, remember when we did the beautiful shutdown and it went really well and everyone loved, but a few people seemed to think it was problem that the parks were closed? What if we just privatize the parks so that doesn’t happen again?”

Absolutely.

Man, these people. Just when you think they can’t get any shittier… The bleeping National Parks, really? Lest they forget, those got their start under a GOP President, Teddy Roosevelt.

OK, I’m willing to believe it now:

Energy Secretary Rick Perry announced Thursday that he will leave his job by the end of the year, saying that under President Donald Trump the nation is nearing energy independence.

Perry’s long-rumored departure comes as he is under scrutiny over the role he played in the president’s dealings with Ukraine, the focus of an ongoing impeachment inquiry.

In a letter to Trump, Perry made no mention of Ukraine and exalted in policy successes that have led to increased production and exports of oil and natural gas.

Stranger than fiction.

As I’ve said before, fiction can’t possibly compete with what’s going on now because people expect fiction to make some kind of sense.

Just, the best people.

It’s a long list.

49 people. It has to be a record, right?

Not as long as it should be.

To be fair, this is the list of fired or resigned. Not the list of heads on pikes when the revolution comes.

The incompetence, criminality, and sheer assholery of this administration is bottomless:

The two told bewildered lawmakers that the agency missed the congressionally mandated deadline to issue a notice that would have kicked off a monthslong process to help Puerto Rico get billions in federal housing funds Congress allocated after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017… Woll admitted that HUD had “no statutory authority” to miss such a deadline.

And their … well, not excuse, because there isn’t one for knowingly breaking the law …

Woll and Dennis, in defending why HUD felt compelled to delay the distribution of funds, echoed previous talking points from HUD Secretary Ben Carson, President Donald Trump and other members of his administration in citing “alleged corruption” and “fiscal irregularities” as well as “Puerto Rico’s capacity to manage these funds."

It must be hard to shave without ever looking in a mirror.

Ah, yes. Ben Carson. Someone upthread mention heads on pikes?

Breaking the law. People being hurt for no reason. Corruption. So, just another day in the GOP led paradise.

Hefty surprise.

I really wish there was something that would turn this particular group on him, but the fact they willingly suspend principles in order to back Trump tells me, no, there is nothing he could do that would change their vote. Maybe if he announced he was Satan running on the 666 platform, maybe. Then again they would counter with, “well Satan wasn’t always the evil we portray him as in the good book. I mean he was a fallen angel after all.”

FFS.

It has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with being Republican. That level of support will hardly change for the next Republican candidate.

Well, that’s not entirely true. We have Trump federal officials publicly saying that traditional values are under attack by the secular society, and that plays right to them.
