Why would this change anything… we already know this administration doesn’t follow rules, laws, regulation, common human decency… you name it. Until someone holds them accountable, as in not with words but hard slaps, no one within it is going to change a thing.
Well sure, but I’d like to see them carrying pitchforks and torches.
Yay more protest letters!
Hey it’s better than nothing I guess. Will help cockroach Herodotus anyway.
Hard to overstate how little will come of it.

Well, at least they are reacting - not pretending it is just “business as usual” or pretending this is yesterdays news, as the media is pretty much doing.

That VOX piece the other day made an important point – When The President sent a tweet out implying that he would lift the expedited travel ban on New York if they dropped criminal investigations into him, worse than the act itself was that it failed to generate any outrage. Silence is now consent. Speaking out against authoritarian abuses won’t stop those abuses but it might slow them down. Silence is a green light to accelerate our decent into fascism.
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH, but that isn’t the kind of “code red” I meant…
Yeah, I’m over twitter saying how “HUGE” something is and then nothing changes.
Something genuinely big, historic even, just happened – the third impeachment of a sitting President in the two-hundred-and-thirty-odd-year history of the republic. And it had historic consequences, to wit, the unleashing of a President already contemptuous of constitutional restraints, and the definitive establishment of the GOP Senate (honorable exception: Mitt Romney) as pusillanimous scoundrels with no lodestar but party power.
I absolutely agree we should be screaming to high heaven as we sink into authoritarianism.
I’m doubtful it will help much, but it’s our duty as humans.
Can’t wait for his tell-all memoir and public rehabilitation tour complete with appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher.
I think there’s a good chance it’s just an act.
Yeah, probably just an act. I really hope it’s true though! Hope is alive! If Barr quits, there’s no way Trump can find a toadie who will do his bidding to that degree, surely? But then, I used to think that about Jeff Sessions.

There zero chance he resigns. It’s totally just an act.
If he actually resigns, that means he thinks there’s a chance that he’s gonna go to jail.
He would be fine with the Deputy AG taking over if Barr leaves. DAG Rosen is a Barr-handpicked second, and he knows exactly what he would be in for. Trump has no need to nominate and have to shepherd another AG through confirmation during campaign season.

That’s funny. I was just thinking that I can’t wait until he’s no longer on this Earth on account of him having a large role in trying to destroy the country I love.
It’s definitely an act. I forget what the NYT headline was this morning but it was pretty much exactly the response they were looking for with this farce: “William Barr, man of principle, protecting the integrity and independence of the Justice Department.
It’s kabuki theater designed to preserve the illusion of democracy
Yes, his version of the furrowed brow.
