I downloaded it through chrome and got the file is corrupted error on install as well. Has there been any comments on what the problem is? Or do I have to redownload it again?

Love it enough to buy it? I never picked up Elemental.

According to the official forum IE is the best way to download it. I can’t even find IE on my computer anymore. Trying Firefox for a second download.
I can’t even get it to play. The game crashes right after the splash screen.

A few things I found after an hour of play:
Escape scroll: Allows “your” army not “you” army.
Under game concepts and Cities spelling is research not reasearch.
Under game concepts and Introduction it mentions the city placement tutorial under the basic concepts section which I can’t find. I assume you mean game concepts not “basic concepts.”
Diplomacy screen “most would not have our attention so readilly.” Readily is spelled wrong.

No joy. At least this time I got the File is Corrupt message. This sucks.
Do you have any third party firewall software running? I’ve had something like that corrupt compressed files I downloaded before.

So there was no .msi file when you extracted the contents?
EDIT: Nevermind, found the MSI. Was going to try to generate a Windows Installer log to see what it’s doing for those having problems, but it seems the EXE wrapper needs to be run, not the MSI directly. FWIW, it downloaded and installed without issue on Win8 x64 via Chrome.
Worked fine downloading from Chrome for me, first time even. Win7 64bit here. I don’t want to pour any gasoline on the hate but it’s also pretty good as far as I’ve seen. Strategic AI is working as well as tactical. Though every human-like model and picture is still ass ugly.
This installer is pretty aggravating. I’ve downloaded it 3 times already and they’ve all been corrupted.
It even takes forever to delete for some reason…?

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to interpret the initiative bar. Can someone help me out here?

It falls down. Look at the bottom left corner of the screen. The large portrait of your unit is currently active. Immediately above that is the next active unit and so on. After each unit’s turn, the bar slides down so a new portrait is in the active frame.
I’m searching around the net myself on this as I’ve seen a few people report this. It’s just a big ZIP file basically.
Stardock Central is probably a better option for this since it downloads in chunks. I’ll ask the IT guys tomorrow. But I think they’re going to have to put more file validation in ala Impulse.

Downloaded via IE. Same issue takes up 94-99% RAM computer freezes. No recourse but to hard boot. I’m done for the night.

In regards to Initiative, as far as I can tell it’s more like “Speed”. That is to say, if you have higher Initiative, you not only go first, you overall go more often.
I got an email from IT that they think they’ll be able to boost capacity in the morning.
But for those of you who are having downloading problems (or just download large files in general) a download manager should resolve the large file size.
Here’s a link to the one I use and how to use it with our download links.

Tomorrow though, if you’re still having issues, you’ll want to pick up Stardock Central.
It took at least 10 minutes after extracting to start moving the status bar but seems to be installng now…

How can I view grain production? I’ve scoured the UI, looked through the Civilopedia, and no luck. It won’t let me found a city with a pioneer because it says there’s no grain available. How can I tell where the grain is?
Edit: looking for production of a tile. I went into city view, and I saw that my existing city has 4 grain, but I wanna know about tiles out in the wild.
If a tile has grain on it, it’ll appear on the map. Generally speaking, look for areas that are lush with green (or other worldly violet). Grain tiles are the source of those and spread from them. But it’ll be very apparent on the map.
