I’ve downloaded and installed FE using the Stardock Central application. I’m at work now, so I won’t get to check out whether or not that worked until later, but I hope so. I really want to play this.

The last beta worked fine. :(

I had to download it manually, for some reason the stardock app only shows me owning the original game.

Weird.

Well, I’m enjoying this quite a lot, and even wrote about it on a buddy’s site. It gave me a great first impression, and I can’t wait to give it some more time tonight and especially this weekend.

I’m only playing on Challenging and consequently I’m getting schooled by the AI, but I’m loving that we get an aggressive competent AI combined with a setting where no one gets any bonusues. I wish more strategy games had this option. I’m looking at you XCOM!

Installer locks up at 100% but never finishes nor do I have start icon. Some Files seem there but exe produces black screen with pointer and nothing else. Also gets CPU 100% warning, and can’t get out of installer.

Downloaded with Safari.

As an experiment it’d be interesting to see if those having problems installing can install successfully using the copy of the validated installer I have (to see if the issue is with the download being corrupted or the installer itself, which seems pretty standard stuff), but I can’t see any way of making it available for alternative download to users here without crossing any piracy lines or the like.

Also, I SUSPECT that your account info is embedded in the installer; I ran the game very briefly and was prompted to have it auto-login to my Stardock account (said yes) to track achievements, but it didn’t actually ask me to put in my name/pass. Since I could only download it from their site after logging in, perhaps the exe is somehow magically tied to me?

No idea.

It also didn’t asked for the serial, I just supposed it was taken the registry values from the FE beta, that aren’t eliminated uninstalling it.

Just tried this on my work machine, and I’m getting the same horizontal screen tearing as my home machine. At home I’m running a 660ti, at work a 560. Latest Nvidia drivers, doesn’t matter if I have vsync or triple buffering enabled in NCP.

No one else is getting screen tearing in this game?

Sorry, no screen tearing here.

Hmm, that could be it. I had the beta installed, but did a total uninstall including renaming all of the FE directories I could find. It did ask me for my login information and my serial code before I could play, though, so maybe it was embedded in a directory somewhere instead of the registry.

Why training toops needs soo muuuch timeeee!!!?

/falls dead while waiting a defender to pop out from the city.

  1. Installer seems buggy as hell.

  2. When cycling through the available civs when starting a new game, if you have the tooltip for what each race actually does it won’t change when you select a new one, you have to move the cursor away and back. This is the single most useful piece of information when selecting your race, damnit.

  3. <removed - me being dense>

First 10 minutes are not positive when it comes to this being a polished product.

It’s showing the order of initiative, that’s WAD. Keep in mind it’d initiative based, not turn based, so I imagine you can conceivably have units that can attack twice before another unit gets a turn, that sort of thing.

Good call, we will fix it.

Yeah, I edited my post. It’s uh, not the cleanest way of showing that information, but it makes sense.

Most tooltips in the game (from the main menu to the ingame tooltips) don’t refresh, in fact. You have to move out and move in the mouse to see the change.

Damn, wish I could say the same. dTa keeps timing out on me and pausing.

I agree! I thought it was a bug when I first saw it… perhaps it should show the next 5 or so turns, rather than completely fill up the left-side of the screen. Either that a better indicator of what it is - given that it fills the same space that the Empire Tree does in the strategic view, my initial thought was that it would have one icon to represent each unit.

After 6 downloads resulting in corrupt files via Stardock Central I finally got a non-corrupt installer. It’s installed and running.

Glad it worked out for you. We are looking into the cause of the corruption now.
