Could be antivirus messing with the files during downloads? Also remember having lots of corrupt files in the “old days” when using Nvidia Network card and checksum offloading.

All is forgiven. Loving the game yet again. Imagine my surprise when my save games were there upon completion. Downloaded from my beta account I suppose. Nice move.
By the way, there’s a manual that clearly explains stuff like the initiative stat and the combat order in tactical battle. The manual is actually pretty helpful, but only if you read it. :)
For instance, Turin, if its taking too long for you to train units, be sure to look into the relationship between materials and production. Furthermore, some cities get specific buildings to improve training time. Fallen Enchantress encourages you to specialize to do certain things more efficiently. Once you wrap your head around this, you can train units very quickly, and even give them some leveling and nice benefits right out of the barracks.

I already know about materials and production :P. But I agree with the last part, the game wants you to specialize your cities, which in part is why sometimes the training time is so long…
I love the cloth map, been playing on it all afternoon. It makes everything so easy to assess.
Can we have DLC for cloth map combat? Take my money.

I solved my screen tearing issue.
You need to enable the Aero desktop in Win7 to get rid of it. How crazy is that.
I’m suffering the ‘not able to install’ problem. Run the installer and it slows my system to a crawl, to the point where it took 5-10 minutes to log out/shut down.
Win 7 64bit.
Hopefully it will get resolved quickly. Not inclined to redownload a 3+ gig file over and over in hopes that it will actually install.
I enjoyed the beta version, so looking forward to being able to play the full game.
Seriously? That is crazy. I’ve been playing around with my nVidia options to see what I can do. Thus far, I’ve been able to make my text illegible. I probably should just…stop.
You using Stardock Central or the direct download installer? Not sure if it’ll make a difference or not.
Tried using the Stardock Central, it said it coudn’t install silently, then bogged the system down.
Downloaded the installer from the website, it just bogs the system down when trying to run the installer.
One bug I’d like to see fixed is locking your desktop (windows key+L) causes a directx error and the game crashes.
Jesus. I’ve deleted everything, uninstalled, re-downloaded, and reinstalled it 4 times using Stardock Central, IE, Chrome, and Firefox. I still haven’t been able to successfully launch the damn game. It just crashes right at the splash screen.
Your enjoyment of the manual makes it all worthwhile ;)
Hopefully you will also enjoy other old school kitsch that I’m working on :)
At the splash screen? That seems…very odd.
I’m not a tech support person so take my advice with a grain of salt but try this:
Go to your \programdata\stardock directory (it’s a hidden directory Windows creates) and delete the Elemental - Fallen Enchantress directory.
This will make you “reactivate” it but it will clear out any beta junk that might be left over.
The same is true of the documents\my games\fallen enchantress directory. Wipe out any remnants of the beta.
This may not work but at the very least, it’ll eliminate some unknown variables.
Is it actively crashing and making a dump file? Or is it timing out/hanging and windows is saying it isn’t responding?
For those with problems launching the .exe installer after downloading it. Install 7Zip then try Right clicking the .exe and select to ‘extract’ the files to a folder, then enter that folder and take a look.
In my installation there was a FallenEnchantress.7z files, a Setup.exe and a Support folder. I selected to extract the .7z file to a subfolder, and once completed I could enter that subfolder to launch the game directly from the exe file.
Yup. I’ve deleted everything in those locations every time. No dice.
The FE splash screen comes up. Loading… The Stardock logo movie starts for a millisecond, then the screen goes black and the PC just hangs. I have to manually reboot.
Keep in mind that the last beta version worked.
Telefrog, try to create a new user account (administrative) and log in as that user and attempt to install the game. Perhaps something in your profile is corrupting the install?
hmmmm, that almost makes me wonder if there’s something wrong with bink on your computer :( I have no idea what could cause that (or how to fix it)
As something we could try tho, try renaming your Intro.bik, Logo.bik and StardockLogoBumper.bik to something else (back them up) and then run the game. They are in the Movies directory in the game folder. The game doesn’t need them to load up, and if they are causing the issue you should at least be able to get further in.
