Fallout 2 Editor: Better late than never

Just a heads up – BIS has released the Fallout 2 Editor (available online at http://fallout.blackisle.com/).

Now while I have a grudge against Fallout2 (I played the game for a good 40 hours before getting to a game-stopping bug, which was fixed in a subsequent patch that was incompatible with my save games!), and hence am a little biased, doesn’t this editor seem to be coming a little bit late? I mean, Fallout2 was released back in 1998, if memory serves.

Is there a story behind the delayed release? Or is this a matter of one of the developers just finally getting around to it (which is fine – they don’t OWE anyone a game editor).

I would imagine they wouldn’t want to release an editor like this while the game engine was still commercially viable.

Now that the technology is obsolete, they can do so as a treat for die-hard fans without fear of it interfering with their commercial goals.

It’d be nice to see someone fix Fallout 2 with the editor. Plaudits to JE Sawyer and Chris Avellone for getting this out.

I still haven’t played Fallout, because I lost my copy of that great spiral-bound manual it had, and I found it hard to figure out without it. Anyone have a PDF of that or anything?

I have a PDF manual if you haven’t found one already.

FUCKING PIRATES ARE EVERYWHERE! INTERPLAY!!! HERE ARE TWO PIRATES WITH PDF MANUALS!!! KILL THEM!!!

Or they just bought the repackaged dvd case/duel case versions that came with PDF manuals…

What if they made their own PDF manuals from paper manuals they legally bought, but they used pirated copies of Acrobat?

Depends on whether or not Windows was pirated, too. :)

You can dowload the manuals from interplay for free

What if you have a pirated web browser?

You can dowload the manuals from interplay for free

That settles it then. Waste 'em.

Is there such a thing? Sure, Opera is Shareware but you have full functionality, pirating would be pointless.

Didn’t Fallout have the manual in PDF on the CD?

I bought the dvd case of Fallout 1/2, and it had only PDF manuals.
