Contrary to the graphic, it doesn’t turn you invisible, only makes you very slightly more difficult to detect. If you don’t have sneak 4, enemies are still going to hear you from a mile away if you move and see you from very far away.

I personally found it useless. Either you have all of the stealth perks and the armor to buff stealth, or you get spotted/heard from a mile away. The armor mod does not change this one way or another.

It also causes graphical problems with the pipboy.

I actually found a piece of Chameleon very useful, but then my guy doesn’t have any points into Sneak. I didn’t think it was adding a whole lot, until I removed it. Definitely noticed how much easier I was detect when stationary, I couldn’t get away with the things I was able to before.

That being said, I still took it off. The chameleon effect was nice, but unless I was using a scope I could never see what I was aiming at.

The cross talk that happens all the time really annoys me. I’m listening to person A, but person B starts talking over them and ultimately I can’t hear either of them. Even the subtitles get screwed up, switching between the two NPCs before I can read it. Very frustrating.

Just now I was having one of those personal conversations with my companion. Meanwhile, the NPC who’s quest I was on though that would be a great time to go on at lengths about the mission we were on. Didn’t hear a damn thing.

This is hardly ideal.

Heh, I’ve had quest givers just up and walk away in the middle of a conversation. One of them even yelled at ME for walking away from HER :)

Same here but for NPCs. I picked up a new NPC and asked her to join me. But for whatever reason although my present NPC complained, the dialogue to send the present NPC to a new location never appeared. When I fast travelled my present NPC was still with me and the new one was still back in the old location.

There sure are lots of scripting bugs…

Yeah, I think they should scrap the idea of real time convos altogether. NPC initiated convo also needs to go*.

    • in some cases it’s fine, like a messenger running up to you to deliver the message

I’ve had a version where I started talking quest with a female NPC. Right in the middle of her monologue, a second male NPC came randomly walking in between us, turned 90 degrees towards me, then continued walking - pushing me away from the female NPC. I was pushed far enough away for her to complain about me not being interested in hearing what she had to say.

Sounds like my ex.

Anyone else find it annoying how often you are about to throw a grenade and then your NPC companion walks right in front of you just as you let go of the button? The final upgrade in the explosives tree needs to be that you are immune to your own explosive effects, not the “Shot grenades in VATS explode for double damage”

What i find annoying is someone was dumb enough to make grenades and melee the same button. Sometimes the game bugs out and pressing the melee/grenade button briefly throws a grenade instead of meleeing. I can’t reliably reproduce it, but it does happen pretty frequently. Thus i never feel safe equipping a grenade.

Yeah, the conversation mechanics (as opposed to the 4-way choice system) are very badly implemented. Not only is the voice mixing level way too low compared to ambient noise, but camera tracking with NPC movement continuing leads to crazy ugly situations. If you tag some moving NPC with a talk action, they must immediately freeze to neutral stance. No other possible action makes the slightest bit of sense. And yet the stupid Fallout 4 NPCs often keep moving and then they wander around. And even when they don’t the camera often turns 90 degrees for no apparent reason in the middle of the dialog.

Hah hah yeah I had a pair of accidents with that, I also wondered who was the genius who put both actions together.

I believe his name is Consolitis.

Yep, but I played other games designed by this “Consolitis” guy, and in none of them he was so dumb as to put an action that you are going to use when enemies are on top of you (closest range, melee) on the same button than an action that you never want to use it in that melee situation (high aoe damage that affects you).
From all the possible combinations, he picked a particularly bad one here.

I hate going back and forth between this game and Wolfenstein. In the latter, the grenade button has to be tapped not held down, and in Fallout 4 the grenade button has to be held down not tapped. It’s driving me crazy. Maybe I should put Fallout 4 on hold until I finish Wolfenstein. Both games could have assigned a different button, console or PC be damned. Most console controller schemes don’t double up on the grenade button and for good reason. And now suddenly I’m playing two games concurrently that do.

Yeah, i think this is pretty obvious. It really shows how much they cared about their PC fan base. They could not even be bothered to split a single button with two actions in to two, which basically all ports that aren’t complete shit do.

Really the only thing i’m ok with is short press to throw grenade instantly and long press to pull the pin but wait to throw.

What I find annoying is when you try to throw a grenade but you are out of grenades so instead you eject the fusion core from your power armor which then detonates under your ass.

I really like this game, mostly because of the improved gunplay and modding options. Still, this franchise started on PC. All the lore and plenty of the devoted followers come from the PC platform. I feel insulted that they didn’t take a week to adjust the controls for PC use. They really shouldn’t get a pass for this abomination. They didn’t care. That has to be obvious to EVERYONE.

It is obvious to everyone Pants, but most of us have played their previous games. Meaning we already knew they didn’t give a shit about their PC fan base, and haven’t for a long time. Thus i can’t really say i’m disappointed about old stuff like that. Am i happy about it being a primarily PC gamer, no of course not, but that is life. Companies follow the money to the unwashed masses.

I’m disappointed in the grenade decision because it is a new low, but really it just means i never use grenades which is a minor annoyance.

Well, given that stimpaks are plentiful and heal limb damage, and your companions can’t actually die, I just spam grenades with abandon usually. The alt key thing is uber dumb though, I fully agree. Nothing like trying to throw a plasma grenade and instead ineffectually waggling your pistol at someone from across the room.
