Techland did something similar with The Following, but their Season Pass for Dying Light only increased by $10. ($19.99 to $29.99.) I think most players of that game would agree that The Following was easily worth $30 on its own because not only did it add a bunch more Dying Light to Dying Light, but it significantly changes the flavor of the game by flattening the terrain and putting the buggy gameplay front and center.
In contrast, this is a full $20 price increase. ($29.99 to $49.99.) That’s a bit harder to swallow, especially when the Far Harbor content outlined doesn’t sound all that different from the Point Lookout DLC from Fallout 3. I’m not impressed by claims of it being the “largest landmass for an add-on” that Bethesda has done because that really doesn’t tell me anything other than “the map is big.”
Anyway, good move Bethesda. You’ve ensured that I’ll be waiting for a deep sale before buying this. There’s no way I’m paying $50 for a Season Pass for any game.

DLC very rarely goes on sale, and usually takes years to do it. $30 is likely to be the best price for this content you will see before 2019.
Soon enough, the base Fallout4 game will be available at $4.99 on a Steam sale and the DLC will still cost fifty bucks.
Then I guess it will be years until I play it. That’s fine. I liked Fallout 4, but I don’t mind setting it aside for a couple years and moving on. It’s not like there aren’t games being released all the time.

Same here. Ah well, I’ve bought the Season Pass along with my preorder so I’m along for the ride anyway.
I snagged the season pass when GMG had that sale, which suddenly seems like a major bargain. Not sure about the robot companion DLC but definitely looking forward to cage fighting and Far Harbor.

Yep. I read the description of the content, and it really reads more like $29.99 worth of content. One area with one new adventure (I suppose it will be like Fallout 3 DLC in scope), a new gadget to trap creatures with extra settlement doodads and what I suppose it will be a new pair of enemy robot models and a new functionality to build your own robot swapping parts. Which is a cool idea, but not for that price.

So far the DLC by itself is priced like this:
Automatron - $10
Wasteland Workshop - $5
Far Harbor - $25
So $40 individually, and they say that the DLC that’s still to be announced will make the total go above $60. So another $25 expansion is what I’m guessing.
We’ll see. I mean, Far Harbor does have the potential to be more like the Shivering Isles for Oblivion, which was released for $30, and it was a pretty great expansion. But it could turn out to be just like Point Lookout, so who knows.
Still, buying the season pass before March 1st does seem tempting now. I think someone mentioned Newegg had the game + season pass for $50 right now, which seemed like a really good price, even for someone like me who would be migrating from a different platform.

GMG has the season pass for $24 after applying the 20% off code.
Well at least if I decide to go in on the season pass I can use my wife’s shopping logic against her. “Look hun, if I buy it now I’m actually SAVING money.”

Looks like some of y’all missed the part about the Season Pass staying at $29.99 until 3/1.
Not excusing the price raise or the push to buy now, but just pointing out that you can still get it for the cheaper price if you buy in the next couple of weeks. At least they didn’t raise it immediately with no recourse for people who hadn’t bought yet.
Gawd, those DLCs look awful. The Far Harbor one, ok, but the others? Seriously. I guess some folks will be hyped for that sort of thing, which is ok, sure, but man, that sounds gross to me.

First I was a bit puzzled by what you meant about gross, but then I noticed what the second DLC really was - that does sound VERY strange. I wonder if its really something else, and just not explained well? If not, its really dissonant and weird by Bethesda, and not really the kind of mistake they usually do. There is a reason Animal cage fighting is illegal in quite a few countries, and rendering it in games instead is probably not going to go down well.
The robot thing sounds interesting though, as does the harbour.
Let me know when there is DLC that makes it a Fallout game.
I hope I’m wrong and the cage things is something totally benign, but as it reads I’m not at all into it. The robot thing, eh, take it or leave it. I really only want new areas to kills stuff in in DLC, most of the time.
Ok I am really confused on the economics from the Bethesda link
Automatron $9.99
Wasteland workshop 4.99
Far Harbor #24.99
Total = $40
The claim that there will be $60 worth of content, so I guess another $19.99 add on?
But raising the price to $50 seems crazy, since its hardly a great deal.
I actually I’m interested in both the Automatron and Far harbor.
Just going by previous Bethesda DLC, I don’t expect Far Harbor (or any of the other Season Pass updates) will drastically change the game or even add any innovations. It will be more of the same, which if you’re fine with that, means this is just what you’re looking for.
The price hike to $50 because they say there’s going to be “even more” content to justify it is goofy. As Strollen points out, the individual DLC offers come out to $40. They’re promising another $20 worth of stuff after Far Harbor, to make the $10 Season Pass “discount” work. That’s some balls. They’ve replaced one “trust us” situation (the pre-order) with another.

Fallout 4 season pass is now topping the sales charts on Steam. Their sinister plan has worked.
It’s one of the oldest sales tactics. You’re putting a “sense of urgency” into prospective buyers. This deal is going away! Hurry! Get it while you can at this special price!
Like I said in the other thread, it’s kind of genius.
To me it fits in with the post-apocalyptic theme of the game, no different than cage fighting in a Mad Max movie.
