I don’t think you can compare NV to 3 or 3 either personally. NV tries more to be like the older fallouts rather than the Elder fallouts.

This. But the again, same could be said for Skyrim - and I enjoy(ed) the hell out of it once some gameplay mods appeared. I predict it won’t be any different with FO4 over time, which is why I haven’t written the game off as a total loss just yet.

Might be one of the best implementations of the in-game settlement signs

So… I feel sorry for anyone who bought the season pass for the new, higher price.

There is almost zero chance it will be worth the initial $25, much less $50. As someone who pre-ordered the season pass for about $20, i’m feeling like i wasted money on it.

This would have been par for the course with a season pass not being worth the asking price, but they had the arrogance to double the price, which leads to higher expectations.

It really boils down to how good the Far Harbor DLC will be. If it’s equal to Fallout 3’s Point Lookout, then I can see the season pass for $20-$25 being an okay deal. Not great, but fair, I guess. The old MSRP of $30 was pushing it.

$50 though? Nope. Which is exactly what I predicted. Unless Far Harbor and the later stuff they promised would be coming amounts to some amazing content, the price increase was a raw deal. Based on the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop, I seriously doubt whatever they’re going to give season pass owners after Far Harbor will be anything more than some trivial stuff.

100% in agreement with you gents. Its hard to believe the quality of the DLC in New Vegas compared to utter meh DLC we have so far in Fallout 4, the feeling of it being a cash grab for mediocre content is quite strong right now.

Far Harbor better be at least 15+ hrs of quality content.

If this was a witcher 3 expansion, i would say it is possible for it to be worth $25 or even $45, but yeah, with bethesda i would be happy if it was worth $10 given their recent dlc history.

My crystal ball is showing 3-4 hours of play time with reused assets.

Creation kit now in beta on PC.

Consoles get mods on June 4th.

Also: Mods in the Creation Kit system disable achievements, so fair warning.

But perhaps paid mods will not disable achievements…?

On PC, you can use the dev console to your heart’s content and you still get achievements. It’s weird that mods disable achievements on PC when a cheater could go nuts through the commands anyway. I suppose they just kept the flag across all platforms for the Creation Kit.

There probably will be a mod that renables achievements. At least on PC (script extenders, etc etc).

Isn’t there already a program that lets you get any Steam achievement in any game?

Well, anyone who bought it at $50 was doing so after the first three DLCs were announced so they knew what they were getting. If you don’t care about settlements, then Wasteland Workshop was not going to have any value. Automatron isn’t a bad DLC when you consider what it adds to a replay with all the things you can use your robots for, and that’s really what most DLC has to be looked at as anyway.

As Telefrog says it depends on Far Harbor. It’s supposed to be closer in size to the Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim then Point Lookout. If its full of stuff to do then it could be worth $25 (or $12.50 for original pass buyers.) I’m not too worried about that.

I think the bigger issue is what happens after that. Remember, there is another $20 minimum of DLC coming after Far Harbor. I don’t think more “stuff” DLCs will fly; people want story content DLCs. Given the backlash on the official forums, Bethesda should be aware that WW went over badly even with the settlement folks and scrap any more plans along those lines. If they end up going beyond minimum additional content promises with story DLCs then even the $50 pass folks will do ok.

I remember reading somewhere (I think on someone from bethesda’s twitter) that Far Harbor is biggest expansion bethesda has done to date, bigger than Shivering Isles.

Of course the price is still bullshit - Blood and Wine + Hearts of Stone are half the price and likely much higher quality - but it will hopefully be pretty substantial.

It would be great if Bethesda somehow improved writing and quest design for that expansion, I would then gladly pick it up on sale.

Far Harbor (releases may 19th) trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0wSCFBJcSs

While the trailer didn’t grab me at all I think playing through the game again with survival mode + dlcs will be a significantly better experience so I’m moderately excited for this.

Needs more Lovecraft and less robots.

Looks like fun to me. Once that’s out I’ll go start up my second play-through.

That is one incredibly generic trailer.

Decent trailer, the focus on it being a Valentine case is a big positive, he was one of the best parts of FO4.

Is this the last of the season pass dlc?

The season pass was supposed to cover all DLC for Fallout 4, thus the price increase from $30 to $50 a while back.
