Be very careful. This mod is incompatible with a number of very popular mods as it warns on its Nexus homepage. That’s one reason I won’t use it because it won’t work with some mods I consider “must have’s” for me. Be sure to read the description regarding compatibilities.
Ah, thanks for the heads-up! I’ve removed it, and will save it for a later try.
One habit I’ve had to ween myself from is exploring every single location or point of interest as I come across it. Otherwise, there is just too much content in this game. Instead, I just pick and choose what buildings look interesting, or stray off the beaten path when I want to.

That’s one reason I never finished Skyrim during my first play through and I forced myself to play through the New Vegas storyline to avoid this.
At what point should I check out Far Harbor? Or does it matter with the level scaling?
What I found with all the DLC in pretty much all these sorts of games is that the DLC gives you better weapons/armor than you might get otherwise, and thus makes the base game content a bit easier if you do the DLC early. That has been my experience, at least. OTOH, it’s more fun early on, even if it does sometimes devalue the loot from the main quests.

I’m trying to install this now. An awful lot of clicking ‘Slow Download’ on Nexus mods as part of the Wabbajack script. If I had a paid Nexus Mods account would it be more automated?
EDIT: I ponied up $5 for a month of Nexus Mods. Downloads are much faster, but you still have to click Start Download, as each mod page loads, and it appears there are more than 350 mods in this bundle. Clear a chunk of time if you plan to go this route! I think if I had a premium sub before starting the process, I could avoid the clicking entirely. Probably worth it. I’d quit and start over, but I’ve clicked over 200 times now, and I’m gonna see it through!
Yeah, I think it’s because you started without the premium sub. My Wabbajack installs were all entirely automated. I think you could just quit Wabbajack and try to install again and it’d finish the rest automatically. The downloaded mods are all downloaded still and it checks what’s present.

Thanks! I quit and re-launched Wabbajack and it picked up where it left off, no clicks!

This thread is making me want to start over again with a heavily modded game!
One thing about the Fallout timeline I don’t totally understand: why did Vault-Tec create all of these ‘experiments’ in their vaults when they would have known that when the bombs dropped - there would be nothing left. There would be no scientists or sociologists to work with the behavioral data gathered. Or should I simply treat the vaults as a plot device and not overthink it?
It’s best to do that with any kind of request for coherent details in any Bethsoft game.

I preferred how the prior games had you suss out what the intent of the Vault was through exploring, reading terminals, etc…
This game seems to be more obvious about the experiments being performed. That said, listening to the Overseer job interviews in whatever vault Nick is in is one of my favorite little touches of F4.

I am running this mod list, magnum opus:

I think its great.
As far as fallout 4 goes, I hate all the factions, and I do think the Institute should have been the correct choice since the player ends up as the faction leader, but the never give you any option / quest line to resolve the slavery problem. It is my take, from the story, that the Institute scientists do not realize that synths are more than just machines. It should have been easy to write in a plot line where you can prove it to them and then there can be a big “Aha!” moment.
The BoS are just a bunch of assholes, who take from everyone and give nothing while pretending to be the good guys. The minutemen are good guys, but clueless and I fucking hated the quest line and the continuous establish new settlements (along with the defending issues mentioned above).
I liked the railroad, but blowing up the Institute made no sense. It would be the end of the synths, and Boston didn’t need another giant radio active hole in it.
I consider Fallout 4 an decent generic open world game, but a terrible fallout game given the last of player choice in how quests are handled, your choice mostly being to either do the quest or not. In some cases you do not even get that choices. All dialog choices are yes. A good example of this is when you first encounter Preston, and you can not refuse to take the mini gun off the vertibird and help them. If if you tell him NO, the quest still advances to the yes choice.

During this recent playthrough, I was siding with the Railroad but infiltrating the Institute and it dawned on me that I was doing a bunch of shit I didn’t want to be doing. Reclaiming rogue synths, escorting scientists, leading a freakin’ raid on Bunker Hill. So I jumped back a few saves to where Father had me in a conference room with the heads of the departments. I shot them all in the head and high-tailed it out of there. Now everyone is on their own again. I’ll do a job for the Railroad or BoS here and there, but I’m done with the main story.
Killing the the main story NCPs in a Bethesda RPG? I’m 100% on board but Bethesda usually is not.

I believe that is what I did. They let you walk out. But when you return they will be a little upset. :)

Not quite.
If you shoot Father upon initially meeting him, you can walk out untouched.
If you stick around the Institute for a few quests, then massacre Father and the entire Board of Directors, the entire place turns hostile so you’ll need to have an exit plan with the private elevator in Father’s quarters.
And when you get up to the teleporter, there’s an awesome voice over the intercom. “I can’t believe it! You killed him! If we ever catch you, you’re dead! Do you hear me??? DEAD!!!”
That’s exciting. I hope they use the song “Maybe” in the intro, like the original Fallout. Just thinking back to that intro still sends chills through me.

That Fallout TV show will likely be based on Bethesda’s brand of Fallout / East coast.
