The salt on Reddit about this is delicious.
“Cosmetic items only” is becoming as cliche as “the check is in the mail” or “I won’t come in your mouth”.
While I don’t disagree that Bethesda/Zenimax’s actions here are far from laudable, to say the least, I do find it a tad funny that people are speaking of “competitive advantage” in a game that, as far as I can tell, not only doesn’t have that many players, but also doesn’t exactly have a vibrant competitive PvP scene anyhow.
Because this game isn’t on Steam, I often forget it even exists.
It’s coming to steam later this year. So no one will forget it. :)
Based on player population, I’m guessing a lot of people who already own the game forget that it exists.
lol same. I mean that’s too perfectly what I think.
But I want to change my mind because in the end --I love me some Fallout.
I wholesomely enjoyed this detailed overview of Fallout 76 situation
Was just coming to post that, as it popped up on my Youtube feed earlier today. It is very cleverly done. Insidiously so.
And makes its points rather devastatingly.
lmao they were selling rum as a promotion and fucked that up too?
Seriously, how hard is it to make your own branded bottle of rum? I’ve been to weddings that gave away custom booze, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t spend $80 per bottle.

Anthem is jealous of Fallout 76 getting better while it got worse.
I didn’t intend to watch that whole video and here I am 26 minutes later.
Wow. Incredibly disappointing, because you know Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, and that space game will all have the same kind of bullshit.
The golden age is over. :(
I became more infuriated as I watched it --and I never played Fallout '76. Grrr. TY Paul. The company needs to be called out when it does crazy stuff like that. I still Play Fallout 4 (survival) but I doubt I will ever touch that stupid mess.
And btw --who the HELL buys rum from a game company? How are they even promoting this stuff? In Bethesdas ONLY defense I’d say anyone buying rum from their stupid “special dark” gets exactly what they deserve --crappy rum.

I suppose they’d be buying it more for the collectible bottle than the actual booze. And that makes the actual product all the more galling.
We still have a bottle of Baldur’s Gate beer and I think a bottle of Monkey Island beer, and maybe some other stuff squirreled away. Not that I’d ever attempt to drink it.
Yes, of course it was for the bottle, to display on a shelf.
