Do enemies respawn in the overworld or in dungeons? I’ve noticed that even after 4-5 days, I’ll be walking down the road and notice geckos I’ve killed still laying there.
Also, were geckos in FO3? I love when they charge you in F:NV.

Nope - no geckos in FO3. I’m quite looking forward to meeting them in the third dimension (proper) for the first time!
Huh, I’ll try that. Though 'tis annoying to have to turn off features of modern video cards just to get, um, video that works. Ah, Gamebryo, we love you.
Hopefully there is also Fire Geckos so they swarm you and insta kill you like they did in FO2 :(

I’m terrified of the inevitable (I assume) golden gecko.
There is new fix for the framerate (for some people, at least)
It’s a direct3d9.dll. Kind of weird, but people are saying it works and it’s safe.
OH i forgot about those little golden bastards, constantly knocking you down and having to waste AP standing up!
I’ve killed scores of those. They’re just a little hardier than normal geckos, as far as I can tell.
More than a dozen hours into the game (still in Act 1) no crashes, no problems with load or quicksaves being corrupted. A couple of graphical pathfinding glitches.
I am having a lot fun. My only complaint is that I wish they added a couple of dozen songs to the radio station. I am really hoping someone does a mod for more music like they did for FO3.
Kudos to the excellent massive strategy. Unfortunately it is going to require the upgrade my eyeballs to mark 3 (previous Lasik was mark 2) to read the small font without reading glasses.
Did some research – this is actually an old fix, from the Oldblivion project. Basically a DX9 thunker/wrapper originally intended to allow POS Intel chipsets to run the game. Seems like it works, I’m at work so I can’t test it, but will when I rerun the early gunfight at [location redacted] again tonight.

Well, I picked it up for the 360 and as predicted, one hour in I got a hard lockup. Come on, Bethesda/Obsidian/Microsoft. This is a console game. It shouldn’t lock up like that. What happened to the MS cert process?

Not really spoilerish, but after a few hours I can see what Tom is talking about. I’m a lot more enamored with FWE than I am with their hardcore mode, even though it recreates some of the broad elements of FWE. I’m still glad they included hardcore mode, because it builds in UI elements the modders can just reuse for the inevitable port.
Also, I miss sprint, a lot, as well as bullet time. Both of those with the new iron sights implementation will be awesome.
This is my only complaint so far (PC version). I really like how well they integrate the ingame radio stuff with other game audio in terms of balancing the volume dynamically, and wish I had the same option when playing my own stuff. Loading up the PIP-Boy with MP3s would be awesome, and internet streams would be even more so.

Yeah, they were included as part of the current version of FWE. I’m not familiar with the mod’s entire history, so I’m unsure if those were originally seperate mods that FWE swallowed up or not.
Sprint was basically increased run speed at the cost of AP’s and Bullet Time was like an alternate VATs. I actually prefer it to VATs most of the time unless I’m feeling lazy, but in FWE if you set it to require Jet it creates a nice strategic element where you weigh drug addiction against increased combat efficacy.
12 hours in on 360 and no significant technical problems beyond a glitch in caravan games that occasionally don’t load the graphics and therefore make it impossible to play (which exiting the area or reloading fixes). It would be interesting to compare player decisions and see if there is a significant correlation to crashes (as noted earlier with respect to NPCs). I’m sure they’ll crop up eventually, as I think at this point we’re all running the gauntlet to the first patch.
So far the biggest improvements are with the factions (as opposed to FO3’s faction, with no real choice involved beyond how you collaborated) and the way they add something tangible to the always strange karma system. The latter still requires too much of the player doing things in the right order or being aware that a group that is hostile and dangerous is actually a lesser evil, so you’ll be karma punished for looting their stuff after killing them. To go along with that, eliminating a group for your own reasons should not pop up a “mission failed” for a mission they could have given you, and it should not mean that people that would have benefited from that simply ignore your initiative and talk as if nothing has happened.
All that was made up for when the brutalized (by someone else) member of a faction with which I had notoriety greeted me with “As if I didn’t have enough problems, here’s the goddamn grim reaper of [my faction]. Look, just give me the drugs and I’ll kill myself and save you the trouble.” (paraphrased) I hope those kinds of moments keep cropping up, as they remind me of what I love best of Oblivion titles.

PC version working fine for me. So far every bug I’ve encountered with one exception is something I encountered often in FO3 so I can’t really blame Obsidian. The most glaring one so far is you can get “stuck” in CAUTION or DANGER with nothing around you. The unique bug I encountered was after putting on another faction outfit and taking it off the next time I encountered that faction (who hated me) they were neutral to me (but still had their weapons out and got right up next to me). Not a game breaking thing but I can see the potential for the opposite to happen and piss me off.
The whole ammo/item creation stuff seems a step backwards in that it overcomplicates things and it removes all of the mystery of what you can make (I know you get recipes later but I don’t really need 50 items of each type to make at the very start of the game especially since they aren’t wacky and interesting.) Also way to go a step backwards and have the recipes only viewable while creating.
Lastly it seems that it’s easier to sneak/steal without detection and iron sighting seems far more reliable than vats with my paltry 20 small arms which is a bit silly. Conversely there seems to be no way to “win” skill check dialogue choices unless you have enough to properly do them, the dialogue choice even changes when you will succeed.
Hi everyone. Why not check out the mod I wrote. It adds an item to the game that lets you move extremely fast. I can’t post about it here due to there being a mod thread. So check it out over there…

I’m playing the PC version and I’m having trouble running at 1920 x 1080 resolution, at least I think I am. A couple times I’ve gone into options and noticed it defaulted back down to 1280 x 720. Anyone else experiencing that issue?
I’ve only experienced one crash so far, but it wasn’t save related.
