They seriously need more tracks on the radio. This is not something Obsidian needs to address, but I hope a modder tackles it, without ruining the feel. I liked the Fallout GNR mods.

I HATE it.

That is all.

“Biiiiiiiigggg iron, biiiiiiggggg iron, big iron on his hip.”

There’s a mention in the modding thread of a mod that includes lots of songs (ported over from FO3) if the current music selection drives you bonkers. As for myself, I have the music turned off most of the time now.

And I like that one.

That song rules. I actually like most of the songs on RNV. Johnny Guitar isn’t my favorite, but nothing is as bad as Civilization from F3.

I like most of the songs of Fallout Vegas. But they need three times more.

Agreed x 10.

It feels like there are only 3 or 4 songs, and while all are perfect background music, there just aren’t enough of them to not get tired of them.

Not sure I’d say it’s the most powerful, but it’s definitely up there.

However, it wasn’t a silent march out of town in my case. I used almost every stim I had, but I got them. The story motivated me that much… and until that point, I’d been content to simply stay neutral.

Big Iron is awesome but not awesome enough to play every 10 minutes.

Need more gunfighter/outlaw ballads plz thx.

Loving the western vibe with outfits, repeater rifles, revolvers, etc, but they really need a western style sniper rifle . . . a single shot high powered gun . . . they should have included a Sharp’s like the one from Quigley Down Under . . . I’d love to have that gun in this game.

The night was cold and rainy down by the borderline
I was riding hard to meet her when a shot rang out behind.
As I lay there in the darkness with a pistol by my side
Jeannie and her father rode off into the night.
Jeannie needs a shooter…

I can’t really argue about needing more music. One thing that I’ve never quite understood is why they don’t allow you to use music already on your computer and put that into the game - seems like it would be straightforward enough. But the modders will come up with something with a million new songs soon enough, I’m sure. And beside, I really like the background music in this game. I sometimes sit through the main theme when loading up. And I love it when the Fallout1/2 music starts up. The DJs, no matter how well done, run through their full cycle pretty quickly after all. Plus Tabitha is off the air in my game now anyway. ;-)

The interface isn’t great, but here’s a partial database of items in NV:

Yeah, I’m looking forward to modded radio for New Vegas. And not ports of radio mods from 3, either - love em but heard em, and the songs that fit well in the Capitol Wasteland don’t fit so well in the Mojave.

WHY ARE YOU OFF THE AIR BEST FRIEND TABITHA?

And why did it take so long.

I’ve played it a bit now and it is without a doubt better than fallout 3 in every way, so far. I haven’t done very much of the main plot though, having instead decided to wander around doing side quests mostly.

Companion ai is still annoying, but seemingly improved over fallout 3 (not saying much) and the companion wheel is nice. Perhaps more importantly, companions aren’t just walking turrets like they were in fallout3 and have some degree of depth.

Gameplay is better. In fallout 3 i never fought outside of vats as it just wasn’t worth it. At most i would open up with an automatic weapon at close range if forced. In FNV, VATS doesn’t make you invulnerable and the out of vats gunplay is better/more effective, meaning i don’t feel like an idiot for firing my gun personally.

Writing is worlds different. Quests are better, locations are better and characters are of course better. I’m in the process of doing vault 11 and it is very interesting. I also just did a certain sniper companion’s quest which was well done. The dialog was also funny after it:

(inn keeper just died in the town)
Shop keeper:shame about X dying, you’ve done so much for us so i will give you a discount.
Me: I killed X, do i still get my discount?
shop keeper: You killed X? Why?
Me: She missed my wake up call.

At the risk of saying something extremely cheesy and cringe worthy: Would the real fallout3 please stand up?

Question: Is there any way to stop my melee companion from running off to engage people far away? I like her a lot and so far she seems to be able to handle herself well (being a melee expert with metal armor and some super fist weapon that looks like a power fist does that), but i’d prefer she stuck near me and picked off the nasty monsters that try to bash my head while i’m sniping people.

Been playing through Fallout 3 on my new computer, but looks like I’ll have to pick this up on the way home now. Damn you guys, damn you to hell!

You can’t escape the repetitive music, though - some places blast them through a radio or, worse… speakers that you can’t turn off. Like when walking around in New Vegas.

I’ll have to look into some additional music mods, because hearing stuff like “Heartaches by the Number” and “Big Iron” for the umpteenth time is really starting to grate on the ears.
