Heartaches by the Number is worst. He already seems like he’s been singing for years when he comes in with ‘Heartache number one…’
Oh, God. We go.

Turn off the radio. The remastered ambient stuff from FO1/2 is fine.
ETA: Oh, wait. You can’t get away from it? I stopped noticing it after I turned it off. YMMV, I suppose.
I like “Big Iron” just fine but it seems like it plays roughly once per three songs.

I know there new skin is not to everyone’s liking but the wiki has a pretty complete list.

Serious spoilers, I assume, in that list. I don’t want to know about some cool gun mod or quest item that I don’t know about.

As far as what quests some of the items are related to I think most of that is on the entries for the items themselves rather than on the tables. Some of the armor names could be spoilers for you so if you’re sensitive to that stuff best to avoid the wiki.

I had pretty good luck setting her on passive, melee and then crouching. She tended not to run off very much. Hell at times she’d sit right next to me when I wanted her to go kill stuff. Other times shes just going to take off after things, but I suspect that happens more when shes taking hits.

There are some nice little touches in this game that make it seem very real. There is one companion who you meet out and about that is a member of a faction. When you take that companion to the faction base, there are actual little greetings and banter between the companion and other faction members there, exactly like what you would expect. Something that is absent in many RPGs.
If you turn off the radio, the game’ll play Fallout music from the first two games. It’s pretty cool to get to Helios and have the theme for Fallout 13 from FO1 start, complete with keyboard clacking in the background.
Passed it today. The final climactic battle against the spoiler was pretty pitiful, but the rest of the game, aside from those ten minutes, was fantastic. Can’t wait to replay it in a year when it’s nicely patched up.

I absolutely loved this. It really added something to the game to be wandering along and hear someone go “What’s that robot? Never seen anything like that” or for a character on the street to comment on one of my companions that he recognized. It’s such a minor thing but it really made my companions feel connected to what I was doing.
Damn deathclaws. Apparently a hunting rifle with armor piercing ammo is not a big enough gun to safely hunt even solo deathclaws, much less packs of three.
Yeah… I haven’t been able to find a “guns” based weapon that can take them, even That Gun.
I think I should have put a few points into Energy Weapons somewhere along the way =/

Deathclaws are much harder in this game then they were in Fallout 3. Which is as it should be. And there are guns that are effective against them, but you don’t get access to them early on by design.
There are plenty of upper tier guns that handle Deathclaws. I one shot them in stealth kills regularly, and in prolonged engagements it’s usually the combination of a bullet from Boone and one of mine that kills them.

On that note, the gun play is a heck of a lot more fun than it was in FO3. I know people have mentioned it, but just playing it for the first time tonight… world of difference.

Absolutely! Having ED-E when in vault 3 gets some pretty funny remarks.
It makes them feel more then just third wheels. Unlike in ME2 in which Shepard and the rest of the world seemed to shun your companions. And the specific places of interest that pop up, where the character seems to have something “interesting” to say, are meet with awkward silences.
Hah all that reminds me when you have a Powered Armor in Fallout 2 and everyone in New Reno asks how do you pee in that.

I love the callbacks from the prior games . . .
SPOILERS (minor)
Like the old woman who used to be a vertibird pilot and crashed outside of Klamath . . .
Or the singer who banged a Mr. Bishop’s daughter in New Reno . . .
Lots of stuff like this if you pay attention closely.
That twitter background is a crime against humanity.
