Wow, that’s interesting. I spent 53 hours playing and only got to 24 I think. Had I done the main quest line without detours I would have finished at around 19-20 I think.
That’s a good point, though it complicates things for the players when we have to pace ourselves based not on what’s internal to the game story but on what we anticipate as later additions. Very odd world we play in now.
Can you explain what this is, with as few spoilers as possible?
Yes please if you have the link still. I’m actually on that quest series myself so it has me worried now…

I hit a bug with the BOS but I’m not sure if it’s the same bug. My quest to help them fix something in the facility went “dark” on the quest log (fail/complete status) when I opted to help Hardin with his problem.

The Hardin and Elder quest trees are meant to be mutually exclusive.

Ok then it’s not a bug, just poor design.

I’m following the main storyline and doing all side quests I find. I had problems with gang members, especially in the Nipton region and those around Novac.
But I managed to temporarily solve my problems… I got the ratslayer sniper rifle and the sniper companion, Boone, though the latter seems to be almost gamebreaking and constantly breaks the flow of my gameplay with those slomo kills.
Is there any way to turn those off? Can I tell a companion to go back to where I picked them up? And can I then later pick them up again?
Also, is there an ingame time-limit or some other reason that would prevent me from buying AP ammo, resting three days, and then repeating the cycle a couple of times?
Thanks
Yes, you can turn off the killcam (across the board) - should be in the options menu. And yes, you can tell the companion to go back where they came from and you should in theory be able to get them there again later, although that is apparently a mite glitchy.
I have no idea where Boone is right now. He just ran off on me, somewhere around the Strip.
Probably need to pull him away from the slots again.
Einstein was right about time relativity. The game it’s so packed full of content that the 40 hours of my game feels to me like 60 hours.

Find Vault 22, and take the elevator - seems to work for everyone, and worked like a charm for my two missing companions
I haven’t checked my SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER apartment at the Lucky 38 SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER yet, so it’s possible he’s hiding there.

OH YEAH YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT I have finally learnt to play Caravan. I’m so proud.
I’m with the big boys now, as it were.
One question, though - how do you win? I’ve won several times but it’s cut to the screen so quickly I’ve missed how it happened.

Your cardstack needs a value between 21 and 26. The value also needs to be higher than the value of the cardstack in the same position of your opponent (= the card stack right above yours). You need two cardstacks that are of higher value than your opponents at the same time.
To play, you first place three cards and then begin stacking. The first card decides what type of card you can put on it and the second card decides whether the next cards need to be higher or lower value.
“special cards”
- kings = double the value of the card they are placed upon
- queens = I believe they reverse the cards you can put on a stack, so if you would need to place cards with a higher value on top of a stack and then put a queen on top of it, you then need to play lower value cards. Though I’m not sure of that as I run with a 2x4 4x5 4x6 4x7 4x8 4x9 4xKing deck and I haven’t lost any game since then, except for one or two when the computer had insane luck.
- joker = removes cards
Well, I’ve run into a bug, it seems. The raft (in cottonwood) won’t take me to the fort, with or without boone. I do have the platinum coin, so I can just skip that part? It won’t change my ending, right? The movetoqt cheat just lands me in cottonwood, sadly.

You win Caravan if you win 2 out of 3 of the routes. You win a route by having your caravan’s point values be both 1) valid, i.e. 21-26 and 2) higher than your opponent’s point values, as long as their stack hasn’t gone above 26.
You can make a lot of cash at Caravan. I ended up just shooting people in the face and selling their bloodstained underwear for money, though. Ironically, it felt more sporting that way.

Ah, great. Can I lay numerical cards on my opponents caravans, or just face cards?
A well placed King on one of his caravans can wreak wonderful havoc.
